Elf Adventures --week #3

Happy Christmas Eve!

I can't believe the big day is almost here.  Ryan has checked the window five times already today looking for Santa.  He is very excited for his arrival.  I'm so thankful that we were able to keep the Christmas spirit going during this pandemic.   I really wanted to make this special for him despite not seeing our cousins and grandparents.

On a creative note, I finished 7 scrapbook pages in the last 2 weeks.  It feels good to slide a new page into an album.  I'm hoping I can get a couple more pages finished and then I'll switch back over to cards in January.

Sending wishes to you all for a Merry Christmas!
Hugs,
Chris

Elf Adventures-- week #1

 Hello,

I don't have a card to share today.  I managed to finish my Christmas cards a few days ago.  I've been busy addressing and getting them out in the mail.  I'm so surprised.  I managed to get them in the mail earlier than I ever have before.   I've also been working on some scrapbooking projects   We still have a lot to do before Christmas but we are doing our best to fill the house with joy.

I started a new tradition (for us) this year.  We invited an elf named Kringle to stay with us fo the month of December.  I know many others also participate in this Christmas game.  We adapted it to work for us.  My hubby was really uncomfortable with the idea of the elf watching to see if we are naughty or nice.  He just felt it was too creepy.   It is hard to argue.  We decided to keep it simple.   Our elf is magical and only moves when Ryan is asleep.   It is fun treat to find him each morning.  He usually is doing something silly.  Below you can find pictures of his first week of adventures.

Ryan is having a blast.  He is so excited to find him each day.  My husband who is wasn't a fan of the idea has come around and admitted that he has enjoyed finding the elf each morning too.  It is a nice way to bring a little magic into the house.

Day 1: Elf making breakfast skittles.

Day 2: climbing our felt tree

Day 3: Gone Fishing for goldfish

Day 4:  He brought special treats from Mrs. Claus

Day 5: scavenger hunt for candy canes

Day 6: Minion Bananas

Day 7:  Toilet Paper Roll swing

Don't Tell Santa

 Hello friends,

It is so hard to believe that it is December.   We started a new tradition in our house with the Elf on the Shelf.  We decided to modify the tradition a bit.  We took out the "Snitching" element.  I'll try to share some photos of the shenanigans.

This card continues on in my Silly Christmas series.  It looks like Santa has a secret! I hope it gives you a chuckle.

Blitzen

 Welcome,

I picked up this stack of reindeer a last Christmas.  They look like they are having a blast.   These guys were a little bit of a challenge to color.  Originally, I wanted each deer to stand out.  I debated using different sets of browns to color each.  However,  I started with the E30 series and kept working with it.  I liked where this was going, so I kept with the series.  I made some a little lighter than others.  I feel like doing it this way made them feel more like a cohesive unit.   Did I make the right choice?

The sentiment is from Crackerbox stamps.  I thought was another perfect Christmas covid stamp.  We all might need a little help to get through this holiday.  😁😀

Are you going Nutcrackers?

 Greetings,

This card is perfect for a quarantined Christmas.  We just recently decided that we will not be traveling to see family for Christmas.  It was a hard reality to accept.  Oh well... it will make next year that much better.  Since most of us have been locked up since March it is easy to understand that we are going a little Nutcrackers.

Good at Being Naughty

 Hello friends,

For about three years now, I've been wanting to make some silly Christmas cards.  It is hard because I know that not everyone enjoys that style of card.  I thought that with everyone being stuck in quarantine that this year might a good year to bring a little extra laughter into the mix.    My next few posts are going to be featuring some silly stamps.  I hope you get a chuckle out of them.

This frog made me smile the instant I saw him.  The expression on his face is just perfect.  I used a reverse masking and a stencil to create the cloudy background.

Penguin Tree

 Welcome,

I have another new stamp to share.  This is Mama Elephant's Penguin Tree.  It was release a little while ago.  It was an instant hit and sold out everywhere.  I was lucky enough to snag one and couldn't wait to ink it up.   This pile of penguins is adorable!

Copics used:

Black: N10, N8, N6
Bellies: W1, 0
Brown: E40, E41, E43, E44, E47
Snow: B000,
Green: G46, G43, G40

Orange: YR12
Purple: V12, V15, V17
Red: R37, R35, R32
White: E50
Blue: B00, B01, B02
I added glitter using sparkle glitter pens to lots of the tiny items the penguins are playing with.  This is optional.  My one regret is that it made the sand in the fishbowl dark brown.  I liked it better in a lighter brown.  Oh well... lesson learned.

Sending Love this Christmas

 Hello friends,

I picked up this new stamp by Stamping Bella.  I thought it was perfect for this a 2020 Christmas.  My family has been discussing how to do "Zoom" style Christmas.  It is sad that I won't be able to see my family for the holiday, but understandable.   I thought this girl looked like she was blowing kisses.  I thought that was a nice sentiment for a socially distanced Christmas. What do you think?
