Getting Back Into the Fold

 Hello

I love fun folds.  It has been a while since I've had some time to play so I started off with a simple one.  This is just a standard z-fold pattern.    I found this really pretty floral paper in a paper pad I had.  I thought it captured the essence of this woman perfectly.  She just looks so free and happy.  I hope that comes across in the card design as well.

Copic Colors used:

Red: R37, R35, R32, R30.    I added some clear wink of stella to add some sparkle.

Thorns and All

 Hello friends,

Well life is messy.   In my head it is easy to organize and accomplish all the things but when it comes down to it somehow life manages rearrange the best laid plans.   All the important things are going well and that is all that matters.

We took on some major project this winter, but I'm hoping to get back on a more regular schedule on the blog.  I've missed sharing my cards with you all.  I have a mountain of them on my desk that I can slowly work through.   How do you feel about Christmas cards in May?

Today I have a some plant cards for you!  Taylored Expressions came out with a clever stencil and die set that creates a bunch of plants and pots.  You can mix and match them to create a variety of styles.  As you can see I made a bunch.  I love how all the cards turned out.

I added the little die cuts of the cats because I thought that added a little personality to each card.

Thank you for stopping in and checking in on me.   I hope you are working on your creative adventures!

Simple Birthday

 Hello!

Eight years ago today I became a Mom.  I can't believe he is eight already.  I know that is so cliche... but the days are the long and the years are fast.   I wanted to make a fun and colorful card that I thought he would enjoy.  Who doesn't love a shaker card?  I found some colorful paper and wrapped it with some acetate.  I filled it with some sequins and sparkle stars.   I thought it was a fun card for an eight year old to celebrate his special day!

Another Year

 Hello!

I'm been a little absent on the blog lately.  I'm so sorry.  Things here have been a crazy busy here.  We are doing some repair work on a family home.  Construction is always stressful.  Thankfully we are almost finished. We also have celebrated three birthdays in our house.  There has been a lot to celebrate.   Technique Junkies has some new birthday stamps out and I love this semi-snarky set.

Disco Ball

 Greetings!

I love encouragement cards!  Adulting is hard and I think we need than more than ever before.  I was so excited to see this new sentiment from Technique Junkies.

To make this card I used mirror card stock and glitter card stock.  I wish the camera could capture the sparkle.  I love the mix of texture between the mirror and the glitter.  I used a round circle for the sentiment because disco balls are round.  Simple, but I thought it was the right choice!

I hope you feel inspired and you remember that you are a a bright light... don't be afraid to shine!

Sunshine

 Greetings!

This is a shout out to all those people who make others feel warm and fuzzy inside.   It is so much easier to tear people down and pick at their flaws.   This process doesn't make anyone better... it just brings people down.   I'm thankful for all the people who have built me up and helped increase my confidence.   It is because of them, that you are reading this blog post.  I probably wouldn't have been brave enough to be on a design team.   I hope your day is filled with sunshine!

Finding Zen

Hello,

It is March 1st!  (How is this possible?).   Are you looking for a little zen?   I know I get the winter blues. I miss the sunshine.   Doodling or Zentangle is a great way to relax and focus your mind on something positive.  Sometimes, I like to use my tangles on cards.   If you don't like to tangle or don't have time, check this out.   Technique Junkies released a background that can be used in lots of different ways on your cards.  That is why I think this is brilliant.  It is nice to have this in your stash to get the zentangle look without the work.

Nom Nom!

 Hey Hey!

Check out this cutie!  This stamp is from Mama Elephant. I paired it with a chocolate candy stencil to create this yummy background.    This cheeky little monkey seems to have stolen himself some chocolate chip cookies.   He is clearly going to devour them.

The inside of the card says:  "Every time I say the word "diet", I wash my mouth out with chocolate. "

Hopefully you got a good laugh.  Have a crafty day

Monograms?

 Hey all!

How do you feel about monograms?  I've never really had an opinion about them until now.  Spellbinders came out with a set of letterpress dies.  I think they are so pretty.  I also love how they paired them with sentiments so they can be used in alternate ways.

I'm in a penpal group and I thought that I would make each of my friends a card that showcases their first initials (don't worry they should have already received them by this posting).

I letter pressed each letter and then used perfect pearls to color the flowers yellow.  They have a real soft shine to them. I used diamond dots to accent the center of the flowers. I felt like they needed some extra shine.  I'm not sure I'm in love with the black but I tried silver and gold and wasn't sold on those either.  I'll have to keep working on it.

I hope the girls love their cards. I really enjoyed making them for our team.   Do you guys have penpals? How long have you been writing?

All of the Hearts

Hello!

Taylored Exressions had a great Valentine's release this year.   One of my favorites is this hanging string.  You can hand whatever you like from the string.  My mind just went wild with ideas.    Obviously the best place to start for Valentine's Day is hearts.  I used the new textured heart dies to create a bunch of hearts and placed them on the strings.  It is a simple but elegant card for the season.

Diving Deeper

 Happy Valentine's Day,

This card has been sitting on my desk since the summer.  I made this card with a kit from Spellbinders. You can see the card here.   I love the bottle card, but I wanted to make a simpler version of the card.  I tried to put together a few elements to make the cards below.    I did get stuck on the design for a bit... I couldn't figure out how to dress up the embossing folder.  It just felt flat.   In the end I went with ink blending a dark blue ink on the bottom and splattering some ink to create bubbles.  I think that made all the difference.  I love that when I have time, I can pull out the full kit and have a die cutting party.  When I'm short on time I can make this version.

As always, I love to know what you think!

Tilda has a Heart

 Hello!

Don't worry,  taking a little break from gnomes if you are all gnomed-out.   I went back to an old favorite; Tilda.   The card sketch was inspired by Lori B.  in the Brockport class.  She had a gnome on her card. I thought this would be the perfect backdrop for Tilda.   Do you like her better in red or pink?

Margarita

Hello all!

I love making shaker cards.  I think all the moving bits just adds an element of fun.   I used a die set from Picket Fence stamps.  This die made it it really easy to create the glass.  I filled it with two different colors of glass beads.  The top of the glass has chunky white glitter glued to the top.  I thought it kind of looked like salt.  What makes this card special is the sentiment.   Have you ever wondered if there is a margarita out there thinking of you?

Greeting,

I can't believe that Valentine's Day is just 9 days away.   I've been feverishly making Valentine's day cards.  This guy is just so sweet with this heart shaped flowers.   I used Glossy Accents on the flowers.  This is a detail that doesn't really show up in the photos, but it is makes a big impact on the finished card in real life.  It gives the cards a shine that is just stunning.

You make me so

Hello all,

I'm still working my way through my gnome series.  This card was inspired by a MFT card designer.  This is my take on it.   I wanted to switch up the gnome style a little bit today. This gnome is from My favorite things.   He is currently out of stock, but they bring him back often.    To create this card you will want to do all of your coloring first.   Then I layered the blue letters off set on top of the black letters.  I used a thin foam tape to pop up the letters to give the card some dimension.    I hope you love this one!

Cheers and Beers

 Hello!

I've got another fun gnome to share with you today.  This guy is just so perfect for masculine cards.  I can see making a bunch of these for Father's day this year.    I think he looks quite proud of himself sitting in this mug!

On the foam in the mug I used some pearl drops that I bought at Michaels to give some shine.  I didn't put them on thick.  Just little swipes of it here and there to add texture.

A True Treasure

 Hello!

I loved the idea of this gnome popping in on someone looking at this vintage map.  It just seemed like a pirate-y thing to do.   I'm still loving these playful gnomes.  Their antics are just so fun.

To finish this card off I used some chocolate brown ink to sponge the edge of the card.  I thought it aged the map a bit.

Sisters

Hello!

It is another month and time for a new Technique Junkies release. This release is full of humor. I have a sister and could immediately could relate to this stamp. I love my sister, but we drive each other nuts.

I wanted to create a modern look for this card. I stenciled a square, off center to create a focal point for the card. I placed the elements on either side to balance off the design.

I hope you will stop by and check out all the other talented designers (linked below). All the stamps are on sale until the 8th. There are some great images and sentiments to add to your collection.
