Naughty Dog

Hello friends,

I have a silly one for you today.  I love this naughty little dog.  I wonder where he thinks he is going with this tree.   He has a determined look on his face.   This was another craft show favorite this year.   I'll need to revisit this again next year.    What sentiment would you put with this little pup?

Perfect Packages

Hello friends,

Gift card holders are always really popular at craft sales.  I wanted to try a new style this year.  Taylored expressions had a new die called "Perfect Package"  I used a bunch of decorative paper from my stash to make these.  They have already make a few trips some craft shows.  I'm happy to report that the pile is already much smaller.    Do you like to give gift cards for the holidays?

Christmas is Loading

Hello,

I can't believe that Christmas is only 20 days away.  I'm not a big fan of the years when Thanksgiving falls late in the month.  It feels to me that the two holidays are stacked right on top of each other as it is.   I've been rushing around getting the Christmas tree up and hiding those silly elves.   How are you doing on your Christmas preparations?

Heart is Warm... everything else if cold.

Hello friends!

Winter has arrived here in New York.  The sky is full of big fat chunky flakes.  The air is dry and chilly.  It is a good day to day to play around with a new fun fold and some old friends.  This is one of my favorite Whipper snapper stamps.   I usually use my copics to color it but I used my watercolor pens today.  It gave it a different texture.  I hope you enjoy it these little cuties.

Peace, Love, and Koala Hugs

Hey friends,

A friend of mine really likes koalas.  She had a birthday a while ago and this card was inspired by her (I waited to post this so I didn't ruin the surprise).  I thought she might like this cutie bringing her a basket of flowers.       I wanted to make this card a little unique so I made it a back folding gate card.    I think it gives it just a touch of personality.

Freedom Post

Happy Veterans Day!

Thank you to all the men and women who have sacrificed for our country.  There are no words that could ever express how thankful we all are for your service.

I wanted to share a Patriotic card today. Just to celebrate the Red, White and Blue.  This is the postage die from Waffle flower.  It has been very popular.  They created stencils that coordinate with it.  They are available in a variety of different themes.    I've had a lot of fun creating with this. I can't wait to play with  other sets.

Betterpress Mandala

Greetings,

Hello all,  I'm so excited I have a new toy!  I added the Spellbinders betterpress to bag of tricks.  I've purchased it a while ago but I wanted to practice a bunch before I bought it to class.  This is my first project that I brought to class.    I love the betterpress because the cards are often simple.  The plates do all the work.  You can't tell from the photo but the paper is debossed from the plate pressing the design into paper.   I used the gel pen and stardust pen to accent parts of the design.

I thought there were a lot of circles in the design, so I chose a circle for the sentiment to carry the theme throughout the entire card.

Puppy Love

Hello,

I've been wanting to play with this dog die set for while.   It is called intertwined dogs by Waffle flower. The dogs open up to reveal a hidden gift card.  You could hide anything you want behind the puppies a hidden note or maybe a photo.

I used just a little brown ink to sponge on the dogs to add some depth.  I kept them pretty simple.  I'd like to make this card in a few more colors.

Birthdays Fly By

Hello,

I love this card.  It is so simple, yet striking.  I'm afraid the photos don'g do it justice.   The background is a 3D Flower embossing folder.  There is so much dimension in this folder.  It is a WOW all on its own.  The hummingbird is die cut from white card stock.   I used distress inks to color the bird.  I intentionally picked colors that blended well together so I didn't have to worry about the colors getting muddy.

Once the ink was dry. I used my Wink of Stella pen to apply a coat of glitter to the bird.  It just sparkles.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do for a sentiment, but I had this foiled Happy Birthday floating around my desk and it just seemed to fit.   It was meant to be, right?

Sweet Wishes

 Happy (almost) Halloween,

One of my favorite things about Halloween it giver us freedom to use colors that we might normally shy away from like florescent orange, green, or yellow.   In truth, we probably don't have a lot of use for those in our everyday crafting.   I'm not going to lie... I was a little exciting to sit down and have a play with this neglected colors.   To enhance the brightness of the end result.  I went over the white background with a light grey to dull it a bit.  I think it helped make the brights look brighter.

Bone-Jour

Bone-Jour,

I'm still on my mission to use up some pattern paper.  I found this paper in a one of the many packs collecting dust.  I'm not really sure exactly is going on in the paper, but I see skeleton keys, skulls and spiders.  It was definitely Halloween-y.  I  went with a floating split-panel card.   The floating panel is hiding a cute little skeleton dog.   This card it way too cute to be spooky!

Fall Turnabout

Hey, Hi, Hello there!   I'm so grateful you are here.

Well that about sums up these cards.   Concord and 9th came out with a new turnabout stamp.  This one has a beautiful Fall them with mushrooms, leave, acorns, and flowers.   I created a 6x6 inch panel with the stamp so that I could create two cards.   It is hard to see but on the "Hey" card I used a spellbinders 3D harvest embossing folder.  It also features mushrooms, so they paired perfectly together.

This Moment

Hello,

I know it is not Wedding season, but I sold out of all the wedding cards in my stash.  I needed to replenish my box.  I was going to remake my favorite wedding card, but Unity stamps just released this sweet set called A Day to Treasure.

I couldn't decide if  I liked it on the warm grey, cool grey or black mat.  So made a few of each.  Do you have a favorite?

This stamp is really detailed.  I obviously used my copics to color the image.  I wasn't able to get a good stamped image with memento ink .  Look at how it turned out on the right.  However, versafine is NOT copic friendly.   So I used the trick of using a stamp positioner so I could stamp them with memento ink, color them, and then resteamp them with versafine.   It made a huge difference in the final look.

Catch you Later

Greetings,
I wanted to take a little break from Halloween cards and share this silly card.  I made this during shark week.  (Yep... that was months ago.  It has been lost on my desk and it just resurfaced).

This is a stamp set from the Greeting Farm, but the idea came from the movie the Little Mermaid.  In the beginning of the movie Ariel outsmarts and swims away from a shark in the start of the film.  She didn't seem to worried.    I used my Zig watercolor markers to color my mermaid (Does she look like Ariel?) and shark.   I used my distress inks to sponge an ocean wave.  I made some white splashes with my gel pen.
I added some stitched white clouds to just break up the white space at the top.

I hope this gives you a little chuckle.  Happy crafting friends,
Chris

Feline Spooky

Hello,

I really quick post today.  This is a remake of a card that I made about 13 years ago.  I would love to share a photos of the original card, but I searched and searched and I can not find a photo of it.   I loved the original so much that I've wanted to make more... but I've been unable to find pattern paper that would work (I'm picky).   The original card featured striped paper with oranges, purples and greens.  I stamped this same cat stamp and then used velvet black ribbon to tie a bow at the base of the cats feet.  I think the original card just said "Spooky".

The velvet ribbon was really bulky.  I was glad to replace it with a paper ribbon.  I used glitter card stock and orange rhinestone on the bow to add some shine.   Overall, I think I stayed pretty true to the original idea.   It was so much fun to see this card come to life again.

Spooky Scenes

BOO!

Did I scare you?  Yeah... probably not.  I'm more of the too cute to spook than creepy halloween type.   I thought when I started out with this card I was going to make a spooky scene.  It turns out I think the cat just likes to cuddle jack-o-lanterns in the cemetery.  It could happen, right?

As a side note.. the Happy Halloween is supposed to be a paint stroke.  I thought I was going to do it in a festive color like orange or green.  However, It turns out I liked it in black the best.  It thought it looked a little like a tail of a shooting star or comet.  It is Halloween... so anything is possible.

Bold Birthdays

Hello friends,

Today is my MOM's birthday.  We celebrate her all year, but today we actually tell her about it.  😀  She is a good sport she puts up with all the teasing from her kids and now grandkids.   She knows it is out of love.

I was going to make her a Fall themed birthday card, but I saw this bold birthday set and thought it would be fun to create a background for this cute little cake die cut.   Blue is her favorite color.   These sentiments are perfect for this technique because of the weight of the font.  You can read them easily, even when they are stamped tone on tone.    I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of these sentiments.  I hope this inspires you to make some birthday cards for your Fall birthdays.

Key to Happiness

Hello,

I had this sassy Bugs Bunny stamp.  I was at a loss at what to pair with it.  I didn't have "What's Up Doc?"  I wondered what else Bugs would have to say...    So I poured through my stamps and I thought this was some good sound Bugs advice.  I hope it gives you a chuckle.

Whoop

Whoop Here It IS!

I've been waiting for this stamp for a LONG time.  Thank you to Technique Junkies for making it.   I'm ure you all remember a song by Tag Team from the early 1990's that is still loved by all.  It has worked its way into our everyday day conversations.   It is about time it made its card making debut.

I wanted to appear as if the moon was saying "Whoop", so I used white pigment ink to sponge a grey card stock.   I added a bit of yellow and grey to give it a spooky feel.  Splattered the white ink to create some stars in the background.  All it needed was a character wish a bit of personality.   With Halloween around the corner, I chose this too cute to spook ghost.   I hope you love it.  I know this stamp is going to be a favorite in my collection.

My Bones Shake

Happy Friday the 13th!

Do you have some spooky plans tonight?  Maybe it is put on a scary movie and make some Halloween cards?  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  What isn't there to love? You get to dress silly, eat candy, and spend time with friends and family without having a stressful lead up.

I used Skelly from Trinty stamps to create this skeleton card.  I thought it looked like he was dancing.  What song do you think he is listening to?

The design team has a bunch of projects to help inspire your Halloween projects.  I hope you will take a second and see their makes.   If you are inspired to shop you can save 10% on all stamps using the code TJ10Chris

Happy Happy Birthday Postage Collage -freestyle

Hello friends,

Have you jumped on the postage collage craze yet?    This postage collage die is created by Waffle flower.  They have several stencil sets that coordinate with the die that make themed cards for Independence Day, Fall and Christmas.  I'm sure this is just the start.  They are really fun.

What caught my imagination is all the small stamps that you can use create cute scenes like this.  It reminds me of a college photograph.   I used critters from two different stamp sets  (Mama Elephant and Studio Katia) to make this birthday card.  I had to do some masking but the end result is just pure magic.
What would stick into each of your postage "cells"?

Berry Sweet

Hello friends,

It has been a minute since I've had some time to just sit and color.  Of course as soon the first image I inked up when I got the chance was this adorable House Mouse image (Thank you to Lori for gifting it to me).  I love these little guys.  They are always adorable.   These four look like they have been having a bit of a snack in the garden.  Hopefully they haven't made anyone upset!

As a side note... I was happy to learn that Berry Burst, one of SU's new colors, is a perfect match for my favoroite raspberry copic combo (RV52, RV63, RV66).  I think I'll be reaching for that a lot more .

Beautiful Trees

Hello friends,

You can never have too many sentiments.  That should be the first rule of stamping (or at least in the top 3 right?)  The whole point of sending a card is to send a message of love, support, encouragement,  sympathy, or joy.   Pat the owner of Technique Junkies is a master of coming clever ways of finding the perfect words.  I love this new stamp set.  There are 6 different sentiments.  Each as perfect as the last.   I hope you will stop by and take a look.  They made some really beautiful Fall cards.

Trick or Treat

 Hello!

How is it possible it is September!  It is the unofficial end of lake season here. The only positive is that my favorite holiday is lurking.  It is officially now acceptable to start decorating for Halloween.   The people at Technique Junkies are here to help us start creating a spooky atmosphere.

When I first saw this dancing skeleton background, I immediately thought of this skeleton die in my collection. I knew they would be a perfect pair.  They compliment each other perfectly.

I hope you stop by and see all the other talented makes from the designers (links below).  If you love this card please consider using my code to let me know and save and additional 10% on top of the sale price!

Sand, Saltwater, and Sun

 Hello!

I wanted to try something a little different today.  I wanted to make a sandy background, but I wanted to break from my "norm".   I found these Paint stamps in my stash.   I thought I could use them in brown to create a sandy background.  I used three different shades of brown to create the background.  I also added spatters to add even more texture.    It isn't the traditional sandy look, but the energy it gives the card.  What do you think?    I cut the flip flops from the flip flop background (quickly becoming one of my favorite summer stamps).

 Hey friends!

Companies keep getting smarter and smarter.  Stencils have changed paper crafting again.  Companies have figured out that they can break them apart to layer them to color in complicated images such as this one.   This card doesn't actually use a single rubber stamp.  It isn't very often I can say that.  The image is foiled to with a hot plate and gold foil.  I used yellow diamond dots to accent the flowers.  I love the elegance that foil gives to the card (it doesn't show up in the photos very well :🙁 )

Soul of a Mermaid

 Hello friends,

Since we are such old friends at this point, I don't think there is any harm in telling you that I'm secretly a mermaid.  I mean... I love the water and my thighs touch what else could I be?

This is a clever stamp from Technique Junkies that made me laugh.  I think it pretty much sums me up. I try to keep my sailor mouth in check but they slip out from time to time.  😀
