Winter Leaves
Hello friends,
I wish Winter was leaving. It technically isn't even here yet. I'm playing around with some stencils and a new set from Unity. I love the softness. I tried to keep all the tones the same to the green and the star would be the pop of color. It would hard to make a lot of these cards, but that makes them even more special.

Colors of Fall
Hello all,
I can't get over how fast Fall is going. Only a few leaves linger on the trees outside my window. I picked up this stencil last fall, but it remains one of my favorite. I wanted to try a couple of different things. First I wanted to foil the panels. I thought the gold would pop with all the fall colors. Second, I wanted to try two different color of paper. I used Toffee and White Cardstock. I really like them both. Do you have a favorite?
When the cards were all stenciled. I felt they needed a little more gold, so I splattered them with Gold Watercolor. This really pulled it all together.

Bring on the Color
Hello friends,
I always hate to see summer fade. At least fall takes the sting out of it by giving us beautiful colors to admire. The leaves are just starting to change here. I'm doing my best to get on board! This stamp is called Soft Seedling by Stampin Up. It didn't catch my eye right away, but after seeing so many wonderful cards made with it. I had to have it. I inked it up as soon as the UPS guy dropped it off.
What is your favorite season? Do you have a favorite part of Fall?

Tropical Birthday Wishes
Welcome!
I've been working on some masculine or at least not-girly birthday cards. I created a little jungle canopy. It feels a little bit like a tropical oasis.

Beauty all its own
Happy July!
It has been tropical here in NY. It is a perfect to celebrate the new release at Technique Junkies. This is a corner stamp, but I was able to ink up a narrow panel in three shades of green. I love the tropical scene it created. I accented it with die cuts I had in my stash. How do you think it turned out? I love the summer look!

Simple Things
Hello friends,
This is one of my favorite house mouse stamps. Do I say that every time? I love house mouse. I made a card like this about 10 years ago. I found it as I was rummaging through some stamping stuff. I've grown so much in my coloring skills, I really wanted to remake the card. Ah... I'm so glad I did. I'm smitten. He is just so stinkin' adorable! I might also be a bit jealous. Floating on a leaf.. sounds relaxing. Where do I sign up?

Bushels of Fun
Fall is starting to fade here in New York. We are working on getting the leaves cleaned up before the snow falls. This is always an event in our house. We have two dogs that LOVE to run and wrestle in the piles of leaves. As fast as we can rake them up, they are redistributing them. Throw a toddler into the mix and it is nothing short of an comedy act.

Grateful-- Stenciled Leaves
We are at the peak of Fall colors here in NY. It is absolutely beautiful and inspiring. Today I used the negative space from the leaf die create a stencil. Love the simple fun look it gave this card.

Owls and Pumpkins
Thank you for joining me today. I was driving today and noticed that in just even a day or so the leaves are more orange and yellow than green. When we got home, the toddler and I played in the leaves that have collected on the back porch. He loved the crunch sound they make.
This little owl is chillin in with this buddy, thinking of you!

Just Beacuse- video
Hello friends,
I'm loving the Fall releases this year. I've been playing a lot with the Honey Bee and Concord and 9th dies/stamps. I thought I'd share my favorite card. It features a Turn About Stamp and kissing technique. I hope you enjoy!

Adore Leaves
I've never been big on using stencils. I have nothing against them. I just don't think to use them. A while back I saw a technique where you rotate the stencil. I thought it looked cool, so I tried it. What a cool result. I just might have to reach for stencils more often.

Sheltering Tree
You might be expecting a Halloween card today, but I wanted to do something a little different. October is also Breast Cancer Awarness month. Most stampers are woman and I think it is important that we acknowledge and support all those who fighting the fight. This year, I tried to make it general enough to be used as a friendship card rather than a "get well"
I made two versions of this card.
The first version of this card used flower soft to add the leaves. I love the look of this, but it was time consuming and a bit messy. You can see stuff flaking off in the top photo. To simply things a little, I created this second version. It is embossed with little flakes of glitter. I wish the camera picked up the glitter a little better. It is subtle effect.

Beary Nice Fall
Connor and I had a really productive weekend. First we went to the lake to winterize and put away the boat. My Dad came down to teach Connor how to do it. Before they started Connor had the urge sneak in one more water skiing trip. I don't know how he did it...it was cold! The water temperature was 69 degrees. He hopped right out of the lake and took a hot shower. We will need to go to the lake one more time to wrap up a few more things, but we are almost ready for winter.
After the lake, we came back to our house. My Dad and Connor worked in the basement. They managed to install insulation in 75% of the basement. It looks great and another baby-step towards having a real craft room!
While they were hard at work, I colored up this cutie. This stamp set is made by Newton's Nook was a limited edition stamp. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one before they disappeared. I can't take credit for the card design. I CASED they layout off the manufacture's web page. However, I picked my own colors and used a different techniques to achieve a similar look.
In my card, I chose to airbrush the ground and cloudy sky. This created a harsh line of color where the bag of leaves and bear sit. I wanted to soften the line...so I added a bunch of dots to soften the look. My bag of leaves also didn't sit perfectly on the ground. The bag was floating a bit. To fix that I just added a little hill by adding dots of color underneath the bag. It worked out really well. Just be sure to make your dots all different sizes.

Brown: E47, E44, E43, E42, E41
Bear: E35, E33, E31, E30, W4

Leaves: just picked fall colors and also used each color to add the dots to the ground
I put a little glitter on the leaves

Rediscovering Fall
Do you remember playing in the leaves when you were little? I love the crunch sound they make. I think I had forgotten how much fun the whole experience was until we adopted our dogs. They spend hours playing in the leaves in the back yard. They chase them and roll in them. Their happiness is contagious. I can't help going outside and playing with them. I'm looking forward to doing it again this year. Who can resist that puppy playing in the leaves?
