Butterfly Pop

Greetings friends,

I love cards that have a little surprise to them.  This new sentiment set from TJ doesn't disappoint.   We all have bad days and are dealing with stressful people.   I thought this card would be great way to cheer up someone that is struggling.

I stamped the Painted Background to create a tone-on-tone look.   It really gives this card a lot of texture and movement.   I wanted to add a pop of color, so I sponged some colors onto a small piece of white.  Then die cut the butterfly out of the sponged piece and a black.  I layered them together to create the butterfly that you see on the card.   I stamped the sentiment in black ink and used a black pen to create the dotted line.

Fly through a Hurricane

Hello!

I love this new Betty White Sentiment set at Technique Junkies .  Betty White was such an inspiration and her loss was felt by many.  I'm so glad we can continue to celebrate her through our card making.

This is my favorite sentiment in the set.  I paired it with a Butterfly swell die from Memory Box.   I sponged the background with Seedless Preserves.   I wanted the bottom to be darker and lighten as it moved closer to the top of the card.  I also cut black paper to make bodies for the butterflies.  They felt naked without them.

Memento Ink: Amazon or Scrapbook

Paper:
Neenah: solar white cardstock

 Hello!

I'm so excited to share this with.  I love fun folds, but some can be really confusing and hard to make.  This fun fold is SO SO EASY and fits into an A2 envelope.   I made an video so you can follow along.  I added a bunch of tips to help make the process even easier.

Modern Grunge with Video Tutorial

Hello!

Is modern grunge a thing?  Well... it might be now.   The theme this month at Technique Junkies is vintage.  If you follow me... you know that is a tough theme for me.   Sometimes that is the best... it challenges you to think outside the box.   I love this card.  Check out the video to see how I made it.

Extra Sunshine

 Hi Crafty Friends,

This idea has been floating around on pinterest.  I had to give it a try. It was a little tedious to glue on all the butterflies, but the end result is stunning.  I finished it off with a retired sentiment from FSJ.

Materials:
Butterfly Die- I used the cut outs.  I saved the frame for another project

Sunrise Butterflies

Welcome,

I love playing with color.  I often use black butterflies to decorate a colorful background.  I thought it would be fun to try the opposite.  This time I sponged the butterflies to look like a sunrise.  I kept the background simple and stamped a flower background with white pigment ink.   This ink is wonderful.  It works perfectly for this technique.

Stamps used:
Flower background
Butterflies are by MFT but were discontinued.  However, I found these and they are similar.
White ink

Butterfly Wrap

Greetings Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I'm loving this warmer weather.  We went to the lake for the first time this season.  It was felt good to be there.  We are starting to make some preparations for the summer!!!   Unfortunately I caught a bug.  It has knocked me on my butt.  The doctor says I need to rest for a few days.  I checked with my 2 year old boss.  I'm not sure I'll get a day off.  No worries...we will make the best of it.

Today's card features an old retired stamp called Swallowtail from Stampin Up.  I managed to pick this guy up at a garage sale.  I'm so surprised that anyone would part with such a gorgeous stamp.

When I inked it up I realized just how big this stamp is.  It is huge! You really can't fit it on the a card front.    I couldn't bear to cut the butterfly...so this was my solution.

 Copics used:

Pink: R20, R21, R22, R24
Blue: BG10, BG11. BG13, BG15
Grey: C3, C1
I did darken some areas with 100

Hello Rosy Butterfly

Welcome,

A while ago I made this Hello Butterfly card.  It has been a favorite,  I've made a bunch of them in a variety of different colors.  I really liked this color combination and wanted to share. It was inspired by this card I made last month.   I love the soft yellows and pinks.  I don't think the camera picks up the softness very well.  It is funny how cards evolve over time.

You Make Me Smile

Hello all,

I have set a new goal of "spotlighting" a new technique or product each month.   The technique will be taught during the Card Lover's class each month.   I'm proud to share the first card in this series.  I hope if you are local you will come to class and learn to make this card.  It is beautiful!!

Blushing Flowers

Happy Valentine's Day!

I know technically tomorrow is Valentine's day, but most of us will celebrate tonight.   In a few hours I'm meeting with a group of ladies to work on some copic skills.  I can't think of a better way to spend the day!!

I made many variations of this card.  I made some with Valentine sentiments...and others that would work for everyday situations.   I love the soft, elegant feel of this card.  I put a touch of glitter in the center of each flower.

Grateful Butterflies

Happy Monday,

I have an unusual card for you today.  I was challenged by a friend to a color challenge.   The colors where a little unusual, but it wouldn't be called a challenge if it wasn't difficult.   Some students loved this color combo and others did not.  I can understand both sides of this.  I like it because it is different, but don't think I'll reach for these colors often!

Copics used:
YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97
I added highlights with gel pen

If you are looking for alternatives to the green... these butterflies look beautiful colored in oranges and yellows.

Reading Beauty

Hello again,

It has been a long while since I made a bookmark card.  I really like this style of card.  We spend so much time coloring these beautiful images.  It is nice to think that they can be functional as well as beautiful.

As always I suggest you laminate your bookmark to protect against fingerprints.  I can't stress that enough.  I didn't laminate this one... and you can see a fingerprint smudge in some of the photos.  It breaks my heart.  You can write a message to back to preserve your sentiments as well!

Rainbows and Butterflies

Happy Memorial Day,

For my family this is the official start of summer and lake season has begun.    This weekend is also packed with chores trying to remove any traces that winter has left.   I know many people today are attending parades and cook-outs.   Hopefully whatever your plans today, you are spending it with loved ones.

Butterflies are a favorite of mine.  I also LOVE the color!  This card is a match made in heaven. The contrast with the black butterfly is perfect.  Surprisingly, it doesn't use copics.  I did it all with sponging.   Then I added some sparkle (can't really see this in the photos).

Stay posted... I have two more butterfly card to share this week!

Close up of the detail.  The card has great texture and sparkles.  I wish the camera could pick this up.
