My Monthly Hero May 2018: Summer Swing

Hello,

Well Hero Arts did it again.  May's MMH kit is amazing.  This kit has sold out.  Hopefully my video is still worth watching.   I tried to focus on techniques as well as card design.    Connor is also planning on participating this month.  I hope he has chance to film his video in the next few days.

The theme this month was summer.  There were lots of swings, kite, and tree images in this kit.  I thought it was ironic I was making summer cards, while wrapped up in a blanket and struggling to stay warm.   Despite being June... summer hasn't made its way to NY.  The kit gave me a great opportunity to experiment with background techniques.  I managed to dust off a few that were popular a decade ago as well as learn a few more.    I hope you will check out my video.

As always, I'd love to hear what you think.  What were your favorites?  I will create a new post when Connor finishes his video.   I also plan on posting a bonus video in the next few days.

Here is the link to the video.  If you are looking at this in your email, the video will not play.  You need to go to the blog or youtube to watch.

Getting into the Swing of Winter

Dear Stampers,

To help you get over Hump Day this week, I thought we could go for a swing!   I love this swing style of card.  I can't wait to make a bunch more of these...

This card look really complicated to make, but they are really simple.  The background is stamped with a snowflake background (my new favorite background stamp).  I love the soft look.  I used dies to cut the circle and scalloped circles.  I also used a die to cut the card base.  If you would like to know more about this die send me a note.   The snowflake is a punch from EK.

this is what the card looks like open

Just to give you an idea of the movement this card makes
Copics:

Pink: R20, R21, R22
Snow: B00
Bird: B01, B02, B26

I added glitter to the snow.
