Family Christmas Tree

Hello,  

Mama elephant has a series of Christmas tree stamps.  They have puppies, kitties and penguins all arranged into a tree for the season.  I must be a sucker, because I had to have them all.  This one might be my favorite.  It sort of feels like a family tree.  It has the whole bunch in there.  There are all 9 reindeer, elves, and Mrs. Clause and snowman (Frosty maybe?).     I'll add a sentiment before I send it.  I couldn't decide between O'Christmas Tree or Merry Christmas.  Which would you use?

Zen Trees

Hello!

TJ just came out with another great background stamp called Zen Trees.  I live the zentangle look.  I wanted the focus to be on the background, so I revisited a favorite card layout.   You can see it here. I made a video using some other TJ stamps.  It is a great fun fold because it is easy to make and also easy for the recipient to figure out.   I hope you will give it a try.

Hey, Hey, Hey!  Thanks for checking in.   I got some of my favorite stamps out today.   This Tilda stamp was released a few years back.  They did a whole series of her dressed as in Christmas costumes.    They are all cute, but my favorite is the Christmas Tree Tilda.

You all know I'm a dog person.  I was so excited that Mama Elephant released a dog version of this Christmas tree.  I made the background by splattering white pigment ink and glitter onto a Navy cardstock.  The camera never picks up the sparkle.  You will have to trust me that this card shines.

Ornaments vs Bells

Happy Christmas Eve,


I love working with Copics, but sometimes the simple cards make more impact.   If you follow the chit chat in the stamping world... jingle bells are popular.  Who doesn't love jingle bells?  I dug out my inks and started playing.  I found a combination that sort of worked.   I gave everyone in class the option of choosing the bell or an ornament.  All but one person chose the ornament.  I will admit... I liked it better too!

Glitter Tree

Howdy Stampers,

I have a variation on a card I made a few years ago.   In my first version I used copics to color rhinestones on the tree.  However, I don't think the copics were bright enough.  It was pretty, but it didn't have the "pop" I was looking for.    I wanted to see what it looked like with traditional glitter.

I'm not sure which one I like better... What I do know is that the photos don't do this card justice.  I couldn't get the camera to catch the sparkle in the glitter.

Sheltering Tree

Happy Halloween!

You might be expecting a Halloween card today, but I wanted to do something a little different.  October is also Breast Cancer Awarness month.   Most stampers are woman and I think it is important that we acknowledge and support all those who fighting the fight.   This year, I tried to make it general enough to be used as a friendship card rather than a "get well"

I made two versions of this card.  

The first version of this card used flower soft to add the leaves.  I love the look of this, but it was time consuming and a bit messy.   You can see stuff flaking off in the top photo.   To simply things a little, I created this second version.  It is embossed with little flakes of glitter.   I wish the camera picked up the glitter a little better.  It is subtle effect.

Pine Cone Christmas

I have a quick card to share with you today.  I was going to make this my Christmas card this year, but I didn't have enough paper.   I was going to order more, but my good friend Debbi told me that they don't make it anymore!!!  I hate when that happens.  Oh well... I'm just going to have to play around until I find something that works.

I really like the look of the layering on this card.  I hope to try it again with some other images.  It might look cool with snowflakes.

Going Nuts

This little squirrel is a problem solver.   He stacked up the acorns in order to share his beautiful flower with the raccoon that stole his heart.  It is NUTS, I know!   Okay...enough non-sense.  Here is the card.

This card is a little harder to make than it appears at first.  First I colored the acorns,  and critters.  Then I cut them out.  I had a die for the squirrel, so I used it.  Now that I see the card all finished, I think I should of fussy cut the squirrel too to get rid of the white border.

I also used a black pen to extend the tree to the top of the card.  The stamp wasn't big enough to stretch the length of the card.

Falling for You

Hello,

This card was inspired by the view outside from my stamping table.  We have a huge maple tree in our backyard.  The leaves have been slowly turning all month.  They seemed determined to hang on.  Most of the other trees on our street have given up and surrendered to winter.  I admire the determination of the maple tree.  I wish we could hang on to summer for little longer.

We had a great and busy copic class in Dansville yesterday.  It was nice to see all of the talented ladies.   They requested more flower cards... so this morning, I went through my stamps and found a few to take with me this weekend to color.

We made this card in a card class a few months ago, but it never made it on the blog.  It feels great to get caught up on sharing these cards.   I made this at the request of a costumer who needed a graduation card for a young man.  She didn't know the school colors, so we went decided to make a non-traditional card.   I love the wood texture on this card.  It matches the stamp perfectly.

Seeing Double

Happy Wednesday!

I'm a late in posting this week.  My husband celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday.  I have been a little distracted getting the festivities organized.   We didn't have a formal party yesterday because of Zumba.  However, Zumba is a party in itself...so we brought the party to class.   A friend made Connor cupcakes and I brought some simple decorations to class.  Connor surprised us all with a special Birthday song.  We had a good time.   Tonight we are having dinner with some friends...and then this weekend we are celebrating with family.  

I have two cards to share today.  They are two different takes on the same layout.  I love this stamp set called "Thoughts and Prayers" by Stampin Up.  The tree is beautiful.  I found a couple ways to dress up the tree on the card.  The first card is the easy method.

A while ago I purchased a bunch of "Smooch" it is a liquid paint that comes in small bottles. They look a lot like nail polish.  I put a little of this metallic green on each of the leaves on the tree.  It was an easy and fun way to dress up this stamp.

I love Flower Soft and wanted to see how it looked on the leaves.  I used the same layout and added the glue to the leaves and sprinkled the shamrock Flower Soft on the leaves.  I found that the Flower Soft sticks to itself.  I had to go over each branch and use my tweezers to remove all the excess Flower Soft.

 In the end the effort was worth it.  The card looks good, but it was much more tedious than the Smooch method.  I love the texture and look, but it took a while to get to this final step.
