Santa (Then and Now) Part 2

 Hello!

Here is another one of my favorite Santa images (also from Whipper Snapper Designs).  I first colored this 10 years ago (bottom image).  I thought it was time to give him a makeover.    I always recommend to my students to color and image and date it.  This way in a year or more... you can color it again and see how much you've grown as an artist.

Happy coloring friends!  I hope you've enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

Santa (Then and Now) Part 1

Hello!

This Santa images is one of my favorites.  He is from Whipper Snapper Designs.   I used to make a lot of square cards, but stopped because the postage system charges extra to mail them.  Early this year, I was introduced to the book-binding card.  I love this layout because it has the feel of square card, but meets all the USPS requirements.

If you are interested in trying a book- binding card.. You can cut a piece of cardstock to 4.25 by 11 inches.  You will score at 4.25 and 5.5 inch along the long side.  I'll make a video on this very soon if this doesn't make sense.

Vintage Santa

Hello!

It is release day at Technique Junkies.  The theme this month is Christmas.  There is two sizes of this Santa face.   I used the smaller one to create these vintage style cards.  Inside I stamped a simple Merry Christmas.   It is unlike me to leave a greeting off the front, but I then the simplicity of the design.  What do you think?  Does it need a sentiment?

Don't Tell Santa

 Hello friends,

It is so hard to believe that it is December.   We started a new tradition in our house with the Elf on the Shelf.  We decided to modify the tradition a bit.  We took out the "Snitching" element.  I'll try to share some photos of the shenanigans.

This card continues on in my Silly Christmas series.  It looks like Santa has a secret! I hope it gives you a chuckle.

Snowy Window

Happy Monday,

I have another card to share with you from the Card Lover's class.  Using the window die to create scenes has become a popular trend in stamping. I couldn't sit back an let everyone else have all the fun.  I had to give the idea a try.

I didn't do a lot of coloring on this card.  I stamped the scene on white card stock and colored the snowman scarf/hat and trees.  I made the white piece of card slightly larger than needed so it gave me more freedom to position the scene as I wanted and then trimmed off the extra.

I added some glitter to the snow bank.  I also put some small dots of glitter glue in the sky to make it look like it is snowing.

I had a lot of fun with this window die. I'm excited to see happens outside as the year goes!!

Saw That

Happy Wednesday!

When I saw this stamp, I had to have it!  It just made me laugh.  Hopefully you will chuckle a little as well.   I will confess this card design is very similar to the sample made by the manufacturer (SSS).   Why mess with perfection?

Here is my version of "Saw That"

No copics!
I used chalk colored pencils.  Regular colored pencils work as well.

Santa Suit

Happy Black Friday,

I hope you had a nice day with your families yesterday.  We spent the day with my Mom, Sister, and Connor's parents.  We are so blessed that his parents and my family get along.  So we can spend holiday together rather than have to divide them up.

I have a quick card for you today, so you will have time to sneak out and take advantage of all the sales today.   If we go out, we will wait for the crowds to go back to bed.

We made this card in the November Card Lover's class.  If you need a quick Christmas card, this is a good one.  I found an embossing folder that reminded me of a Christmas sweater.  So we just added a little texture to Santa's Suit.

Close up of the embossing pattern.

Santa is Coming to Town

Happy Monday all,

This weekend went by in a flash.  The holiday madness is starting early this year.  They are already playing Christmas Songs on the radio and I saw the first Christmas commercial.
No doubt about it Santa is Coming to Town!

Copics used:

Wood: E70, E71, E74, E77
Red: R24, R29, R39
Green: G43, G46
Grey W3, W1
Blue B34, B37, B39
Skin: E000, E00
Gold : Y28
Browns:  I experimented with a lot of brown combos.  I encourage you to play around as well.  If you don't know where to get started start with E30, E31, E33 or E40, E41, E43.   If you want something harder try E30, E13, E15.  You can't go wrong.  Each deer should be a little different. I think it would be weird if they all looked the same.

Have fun!!
