Stay in Bed

Hello,

I thought this was a really sweet set from Hero Arts.   The set comes with four different animals ,but I chose to do the bear.  He looks so sweet tucked in for bed.  I hope he feels better soon.

Cancer Sucks

 Hello!

No one likes making these cards but sadly we all have friends and family that are battling cancer.   I'm always on the lookout for stamps to make cards that I can show support and most importantly make them smile.  I love this new set from Technique Junkies.   It has a little mix of everything.    I added glitter to the ribbon on the second card.  I'm not sure if I like it or not.  What do you think?

Tomato Soup?

 Welcome!

I have a silly card for you today.  It is nice to take a break from holiday cards and do something that will hopefully make you smile.   This sentiment is made by Riley and Co.  I thought it paired well with the old Tim Holtz blueprint drink set.   This set is challenging to use.  I got this set because it felt more masculine. All the images have the sketchy lines and line to them.  I'm not sure I love that.  I think I might try to mask them off next time.  What do you think?   Do you like them? hate them? neutral?

Anyway, I hope this brings a smile to your face.  I think it is a fun encouragement card.

Soft Kitty

Hey friends,

I made this card a while ago, but it got lost in the card shuffle (haha).  I stumbled across it yesterday and wanted to share it.  The sentiment is an old song made popular by the TV show Big Bang Theory.

Pink Ribbons

Welcome,

This post is a going up a little late.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Sadly, so many women are affected by cancer.  My grandma battled and won last year.  I think it is important to show support.

SOAR

Howdy,

The Hot Air Balloon Festival is this weekend.  I love seeing all the colorful balloons over the lake.  It is on my bucket list to see the lake from a balloon on day.  This year.. I'll settle for watching Ryan discover them.

I created a scene with the hot air balloons  and then used dies to create an eclipse card.  This is one of my favorite techniques.  It is perfect for scene cards like this.

Get Well Floral Spray

Hello friends,

I've been trying to replenish my stash of  "Get Well" cards.   They seemed to disappear over the Winter.   I purposefully didn't not blend the strokes out on the petals.  I thought it had a more natural look.   I used a gel pen to break up the color in the center of each flower.

Copics used:
Pink: R20, R21, R22, R24
Green: G00, G02, G05, G07
I added some dots with a white gel pen

Poppin' in with Poppies

Greetings,

I must be tired of winter.   I find that flowers have crept their way onto every card I've made in the last week or so.  I can't say I'm sorry.... nothing brightens up a dreary winter day like FLOWERS!

I added some color to this poppy die cut.  Hopefully this cad will brighten someone's day!

This happened about a week ago.. but it was too cute not to share...

We went to the youth center to make Valentine's with the kids.  He had a blast watching the older kids creating.  He just couldn't help himself.  He got his hands on a stamp pad and it went straight into his mouth.  Thankfully it is non-toxic.   I can't imagine it tastes good, but he was pretty proud of himself.

Sending Hope

Hello friends,

As you are probably know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  I always try to make at least one card to show my support.    My heart go out to all those who fight.  We are with you!

Heard you were Dragon.

Hello all!

I apologize for being a bit behind in my blogging.  It is fitting that I have this card to share with you today.  There is a nasty virus going around and it spent Labor day weekend with us.  I was knocked on my butt.  I spent with all day in bed Sat, Sun, and Monday.   I've never been so congested in my life.   We tried to keep the baby clear of it... unfortunately it was only a matter of time.   Connor (my hubby) did an amazing job taking care of everyone.   The good news is the baby is already bouncing back.   I'm still Dragon!

I love how this card turned out.  I had no idea where I was going when I started this project.  I love the green background behind the dragon, but I had a REALLY hard time finding paper to match.  I finally found a piece in a stash I've had sitting around for 10 years.  This of course....just justified... my paper hoarding problem.

I'm off to bed.  I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  I'm so sad that I missed out on all my family's festivities.  Hopefully the weather will hold out and we can squeak in more lake time.

Flower of the Month: Lily of the Valley

Happy May Day!

I'm so excited that May is officially here.   April was a really snowy month here in upstate New York.  I think we can finally say goodbye to winter and welcome the warmer weather!!  WHOO-HOO.

This month we are celebrating Lily of the Valley flowers here at Lila Grey.    Lisa drew a elegant, but simple version of these flowers.   Since they are traditionally white I chose to focus the color on the background rather than the flower.  It really helps the flowers pop!

The colors I used are listed below.  The biggest trick to getting the sky to look right is work quickly so the "edges" of your coloring do not dry.  If part of your coloring does dry before finishing it will create streaks.  These are really hard to remove.

Happy Spring!!

Sheltering Tree

Happy Halloween!

You might be expecting a Halloween card today, but I wanted to do something a little different.  October is also Breast Cancer Awarness month.   Most stampers are woman and I think it is important that we acknowledge and support all those who fighting the fight.   This year, I tried to make it general enough to be used as a friendship card rather than a "get well"

I made two versions of this card.

The first version of this card used flower soft to add the leaves.  I love the look of this, but it was time consuming and a bit messy.   You can see stuff flaking off in the top photo.   To simply things a little, I created this second version.  It is embossed with little flakes of glitter.   I wish the camera picked up the glitter a little better.  It is subtle effect.
