Happy Belated Easter

 Hello all,

It is hard to believe that Declan is a month old already.  He has his check up and he gained 2 pounds in that time.  He is growing so fast.   Our biggest challenge is that he doesn't sleep for very long.  He is looking for food every 2-3 hours.   It is exhausting, but I know this phase will pass quickly.  I'm trying to soak up all the good things about cuddly newborn.

I haven't been too busy in my craft room this last month.  I'm sorry for the lack of card related posts.  I hope to get back to crafting very soon.  I'm starting to go through withdrawal.  My fingers are itching to get inky!   In the meantime, I thought I'd share some photos from our Easter photo shoot.    The puppies got in on the fun too.

I took a bunch of photos because they are only this little once.  If you have a comment click here to email me.  If you his reply to this email, it will get lost in cyber-space.   I took some one month photos too.  I'll share them once I get them edited.

Hugs to you all,

24 Carrot Friend

Stamp companies are getting to be so creative.  I love how they are making dies that cut out the hands of critters so they can hold various items.  This little bunny is meant to be holding a cup of coffee/tea.  I thought it would be fun fill his arms with carrots.  It pairs perfectly with this sentiment.  It might be my new favorite Easter sentiment.  Gosh it is cute!

Wee Bit of Luck

Hello friends,

I bought this St. Patty's Day stamp last year and it has been sitting on my table for a full year.   I couldn't let this holiday go by without getting some ink on it.  I just think this frog is super cute!

It has been a popular idea to cut stipes of paper to decorate part or all of a card.  I thought I'd give it a try. I cut up a bunch of green cardstock and green glitter cardstock.  I wanted them to be all different widths. Then just glued them to the white base until they met the frog's feet.  It was are really easy background to create.

Hello World!

Hello friends,

As many of you know, we were expecting a new addition to our family.  We are happy to announce Declan has arrived.   I had a planned c-section this time around.  If you are curious- here is a link to what happened in my first pregnancy.   My surgery went well and I'm recovering well.

Connor and I decided to wait to find out the gender until this little one was born.  At 8:29am, Connor was able to announce that it was a baby boy.  It was a surprise!  Most people were betting on a girl.  As a result, we started to think it was a girl too.   However, we were not disappointed. I'm just so thankful he is healthy.

I plan on doing a home photo shoot in the next few days.  We are still getting settled and adapting to a new normal.  I'm sure I'll have more photos to share.

Before and After Shot

Meeting my big brother. Ryan was so excited.  He wanted to give Declan his first bottle when he got home.

Bunny Remix

Every once in a while, I like to revisit an older card design and update it a bit.  I made the original card six years ago.  The paper colors of the original card have both been discontinued.  It forced me to pick a bolder color palette.  I really like the depth it brings to the card.  What do you think? Do you like the original or the remake?

I made a video many years ago on how I colored the original.  You can find the link at the bottom is you are interested.  It was one if the first videos I ever made.  The lighting is terrible, but you can see how I colored it.

I could EXPLODE!

Hello friends,

I had some requests for masculine birthday cards.  Geez, they can be a challenge to make.  After playing around with several ideas,  I think this was the best fit.  I love the clean and simple look of this card.  It took everything I had to resist putting glitter all over these balloons.

Orange: YR07, YR04, YR02,
Yellow: Y15, Y13, Y11

Stacked Birthday Wishes

I really enjoyed making this card.  Can you tell?  I made about ten of them in about six colors.   This is such a cute stamp set from Stampin Up.  When you untie the twine, the card pulls open to reveal a whole tree full of friends wishing the recipient a Happy Birthday.

Copics have a nasty way of bleeding through cardstock.  I decided that watercolors to paint this card.  It was faster and I think it gives this card a more organic look.

No copics today-- watercolors used to color these.

Above Par

I had a couple requests for some golfing cards.  We are long overdue for some masculine cards.  I thought it would be fun give it a go.  Golfing always makes me think of wild patterns and colors.  I searched through my pattern paper and found this argyle (well sort of) paper.   I pulled some colors out of the paper to color up our golfing friend.   This is backwards from my normal process.   I usually color an image and then pray I can find a paper to match.  This card came together so easily.  I need to make myself do this more often.  What do you do first? Design the card or color the image?

Copics used:

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20
Red: R29, R24
Yellow: Y35, Y32, Y13
Grey: C5, C3, C1
Green: G28, G24, G21
Blue: B01, B00  Then I drew on the stripes with B02 marker
