Sun's Out, Buns out!

Can hamburgers be cute? Well... this guy thinks so.  He won my heart.  This little image made me laugh when I first saw him.  It is by Newton's Nook.   I wanted to create a picnic feel to this card.  I found some pattern paper in my stash that looked like a tablecloth.  What do you think?  Did this guy make you laugh?

Happy Crafting,

Four Months

At 4 months, Declan is starting to get past his colic.  We still have one episode a day.   We are working on sleeping for longer than 2-3 hour periods.   The doctor says you are little on the lightside.  We are working on fattening you up.  It will help you sleep longer too!

Fishing You the Best Day Ever

Hello friends,

We just got home from the lake.  It was SOOOO hard to leave.  It was over 90 degrees, the water is calm and there was a cool breeze.  Alas, we had to get back to real life.   To chase away the blues, then create a summer card.  I pulled out one of my favorite die sets.  Box cards are so easy to create and they add a cool-factor to a project.

I hope you are enjoying this summer weather.  It is going to be over all too fast.  I probably should get out some fall stamps soon.

Hello again,

I'm slowly catching up!  I hope you are guys are enjoying these.  These are my handsome boys. We were able to spend the week at the lake for 4th of July.  Ryan loved the fireworks.  Declan thought they were overrated and feel asleep.

Poppy Sympathy Card

Hello friends,

I need to build up my stash of sympathy cards again.  Sympathy cards can be tough because of the nature of the card.  I like to keep sympathy cards simple.  This way it doesn't distract from the message.  The poppies are from an older Stampin Up set.     I love the pop of color the poppies give the card.

What images or colors do you reach for when creating sympathy cards?

Red :R35, R37  I did really simple blending.

Two Months

I've been playing catch up.  The last few month have gone by in a blink.  I snapped a bunch of pictures along the way.  It feels good to have a chance to sort and share some.    Here is Declan at 2 months.  He has learned to social smile.  It melts my heart every time!

Seahorses and Sunshine

Hello all,

I think this is the longest I've gone without posting on my blog.  I have missed it.   Declan just turned 5 month old.  He is adorable and developing a personality.  His smile will melt your heart.  We did have a few crazy months there.   My husband had to travel for 5 weeks for work.  Leaving me home with a newborn and 5 year old.  Declan was colicky and doesn't sleep for more than 2 hours.   My mom helped out a bunch, but it was pretty much survival mode around here.   Things are slowly getting back to "normal"...and thankfully I'm able to get back to card making.

This is one of the first cards I made.  I wanted to do something easy and fun.  I used watercolor pigment powders to make the ocean background.  I love watching the pigments move on the cardstock.  It always makes me wonder why I don't do this stuff more often.

I hope you have enjoyed the first card back... I hope to have more cards and baby photos soon.  One step at a time right?

No copics today.  The background is created with watercolors

THANK YOU. Thank you very Much!

 Hello friends,

Recently Stamping Bella released some "Oddball" stamps.  The eyes on these guys are a little weird but they are cute in their own way.  My favorite on the group is the Elvis stamps.  The accompanying sentiment is perfect for cardmaking.    I'm not a huge Elvis fan, but I can't read the sentiment without hearing Elvis's unique voice say it.   I have a few more of these oddball stamps.  I can't wait to ink them up.

As always I'd love to hear what you think,

Warm Thoughts Coffee Cup

Over the last year or so I've slowly reorganizing my stamp room.  I was sorting some stamp sets this week and stumbled across this stamp set from Mama Elephant.  I forgot I had it.   The "Warm" stem stamp is just so stunning. I couldn't wait to ink it up.   I usually make these cards during the colder months, but we drink coffee in the summer, right?

The coffee cup is stamped onto polkadot paper.  I cut it out and used dimensional dots to raise it off the card front.  I added a few red hearts for a pop of color.  It is a super simple design.  I hope you like it too!

Waving Hello

Greetings friends,

Before diving into the card (pun intended).  I have some administrative news.  As many of you know there is a "follow me by email" feature on this blog (look to the right).  Blogger changed how this feature works.  I did my best to transfer all emails to the new program.  However, things are never easy. You may need to re-subscribe to the blog.  It is the easiest fix to the problem.  Let me know if you have questions or have problems.   Thank you all for following along!

CARD INFO:  Let's Dive in!

Making "Hello" cards are some of my favorites.  They are nice to have on hand for the things that pop up.

I wish the camera picked up the details in the background of this card better.  The blue "water" was created using a variety of colored spray inks.  I used a light, medium, and dark blue, silver, purple, and  green spray to create a background panel.  The color moves on the paper, blending together to create a unique panel.  As a bonus the inks have a fine glitter mixed in.  When the panel dries it has a subtle shine. I used snow drift die to cut the blue and a white panel.  Even though it is meant for snow drifts, I thought it added to the watery feel of the card. I inlaid the blue panels into the white frame.  The rest of this card was really simple.  I put this super cute snorkeling bear in the scene.

You can kind of see a shine n this photo.

Nailed It

I'm still working on building up a stash of masculine cards.  This card was inspired by my dad.  He is really into carpentry.  At the moment he is remodeling his entire kitchen.  He is building his own custom cabinets.  I'm thinking about using this as his Father's Day card?

I thinking about making a pink version of this card to celebrate all the women who rock the tool box. What do you think?

Sprinkled with Love

 Hello friends,

I'm slowly getting back to stamping.  It takes me about a week to create a card.   My crafting time is limited to baby naps.  I know it will get easier as he gets older.  Besides, he will only be small for such a short time.  I don't want to miss a minute.

This is my first foiling card.  The camera doesn't fully capture the shine of the tiny blue hearts. They are so pretty.  I created them using heat foil.  It is my first attempt at this technique.  I had drooling over a foiling machine for awhile, but didn't want to make the investment.  I happened upon a good sale and it just hopped into my cart.

One Sheet Wonder-modified

 Hello friends,

I started these cards months ago.  I'm easing my way back into stamping by finishing up projects that have been lingering on my desk.  I made 40 cards in this series.  I made them all using an old technique called One Sheet Wonder.

It is the idea that you can make 8 to 10 cards from one sheet of decorate paper.  This statement is a little deceptive. You need a lot more than one sheet of decorative paper.  You need cardstock for bases, accent strips, paper for sentiments, and embellishments.

This technique was popular about 20 years ago in stamping.  It faded from popularity, but it recently resurfaced.  I modified the pattern a little bit, but the idea is still the same.  I made multiples of each design.  What a fun way to rebuild a highly depleted card box!
