New Horizons

I love learning new stamping techniques.  I found this technique when I was searching for ideas for embossing folders.   I used a brayer to apply light brown ink to the "negative" side of the embossing folder.   I then embossed a white piece of paper.  It was really easy!

Sea You Soon

Hello Stampers!

It is an honor to be part of the Hip 2 Be Square Challenge.   The challenge is to use Tilda or Edwin on a Square Shaped Card.

I choose to use Pearl Tilda.  She is part of the Summer Memories Magnolia Collection (available at www.stampingscrapping.com )

To create an ocean environment, I used glimmer mist.  This was my first experience with it.  It is a lot of fun and not as messy and I thought.  I have avoided the bottles sitting on my shelf because I was fearful of the mess they would create.  Today I put on my brave face on and pulled them down.   I laid a few paper towels on the kitchen counter and sprayed my white card stock.  It took the card stock about 2 hours to dry.  It took less than a minute to clean up.  I'm so mad at myself for letting them sit on the shelf for so long.  I can see that I'm going to be ordering more colors (also available at www.stampingscrapping.com).

Little bits of Illuminate on seahorse

Glimmer Mist comes in a rainbow of colors and has little pieces of mica in it.  It leaves a shimmer on the surface of the paper.  The shades of blue change a bit depending on how the light hits the card.  It was the perfect choice to create a underwater world.  I used three colors of blue (listed below).  I layered them lightest to darkest to give the illusion of light penetrating the water.    Lastly I used Staz-On ink to stamp the landscape, animals and verse.

These are the materials I used:
Stamps:
Pearl Tilda by Magnolia
Ocean Floor by Stampscapes
Fish by Stampin Up
Turtles by Mark's Finest Papers
Verse by Great Impressions

Glimmer Mist: Sea Glass, Turquoise Blue and Riptide

Copics:
Skin: E00, E00, E11, E01
Hair: YR31, Y21, Y26, E50
Mermaid Tail: BV17, BV13, BV02, BV00, BV000, RV04, RV02, RV00
Seahorse: BG09, BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01, BG000

I put a little Illuminate Smooch on Tilda's Tail and some Stardust Stickles around the edges of the card to finish it off.
Sparkles on the Fish

Happy Stamping!  I can't wait to see your Hip 2 Be Square Cards!

No Lion!

Hello Stampers!

I have another zoo card for you! It is GRRRrrreat!, No Lion!!

It is a circle card!  It is my first one.  I have been toying with the thought of making a circle card for a while.  It was more challenging than I expected.  Designing the layout took me a while to figure out how to make it work.  It was worth the extra effort.  I like how it turned out.

I used a dimensional adhesive on the lion to make him look like he was jumping up.

Recipe Card:
Certainly Celery and Pink Pirouette Paper by SU
Brown Memento Ink
Martha Stewart Grass Punch
3 Gold Embellishment (I bought them at Hobby Lobby)

Let's KIck Cancer's Butt

Hello again,

I have a craft show tomorrow, so I tried to finish up some cards I had started a while back.  I love this one!  I saw the idea out on the web somewhere... but I made it my own and added some sparkle. I want to dedicate this card to Debbi, a good friend that Kicked Cancer's Butt!

Inside Reads:  "I'm in your Corner, Let's kick Cancer's Butt"

The paper is Stampin Up's Melon Mambo.  I added some diamond Stickles to her gloves.  I love the sparkle!

Happy Stamping!

Monkey Business

Hello Friends,

I'm sorry it has been a little while since I posted.  I got some big news.  I was invited to be a guest designer for www.stampingscrapping.com.   I got my first (maybe only) assignment this week.  I wanted to impress... I tried a few new things.  I love how it turned out!   Bad News, I can't show you until the release date (maybe May 27th).   I'll keep you posted....

I also have a card club class coming up.   This month's theme is Zoo animals. We will make three cards.

This set is new.  It is made by There She Goes Stamp Company. There are a few more cute animals in the set.  They might be escaping soon to a blog near YOU!  I tied the bow with a fork.  Yes a Fork!  I found directions on youtube.  It took some practice, but I did it!

I hope you will kick up your Heels and join us on May 24th 6pm at Hobby Lobby.
It will be fun, no lion!
Chris

P.S.  The post office brought me the new Magnolia Stamps this week.  Keep your eyes open for some new Tilda Cards
