Warmed by Friendship

Hello all,

It is so weird not to have class today.  I always look forward to seeing the ladies at the Senior Center, but we decided not to have class this week because so many of us were busy with Holiday activities. I hope everyone has a safe and stress-free holiday.

It has been really warm in New York this December.  It hasn't felt much like winter.  I love the warmer weather...so I'm not complaining.  With the lack of snow...we have had to make our own winter.  I love the simplicity of this card.   I hope you enjoy it too!

Peace on Earth

Hello all,

I have recently fallen in love with this Peace die.  When I first purchased it, I wasn't sure what images I wanted to pair with it.  Once I started I couldn't stop playing with it.  On Wednesday, I'll share the second card.

I gold embossed this beautiful dove on white card stock.  Then added the die cut "Peace" and gold cording.  I love the gold and red colors together.

Love the detail in this stamp by Stampin Up.

Dare to be Unique

Happy Friday,

I love snowflakes.  Well... I love snowflakes when they are on paper.  I'm not sure I can say the same about ones that pile up in my driveway!   I usually grab blues and purples inks/paper when I start making a snowflake card, but a friend (Amy) a few years ago make a green snowflake card.  It was really pretty.  It inspired me to branch out and try a few other colors.  This year, I thought I'd try using classic Christmas colors.  I love the red, green and gold together.   It has a very elegant feel to the card.

A Walk in the Woods

Hey there!

I have a fun card to share with you.  This is from the December Card Lover's class.  I know this month is crazy busy, but if you can make it to class... you should come learn how to do this technique.  It take a little practice, but the results are stunning!

Winter Getaway

Hello again,

I have a fun winter card to share today.  I wanted to create a winter scene to create a masculine birthday card.  I put a choose a cat to put in the little cart.  It was the perfect size image. I'm wondering if I should have put a snowman or penguin.  What do you think?

Go Go Grandma

Hello all,

Just wrapped up another crazy week.   The weather here has been crazy unusual.  It was 62 degrees today in New York.   We took advantage and headed to the lake.   Connor and I met my Mom and sister there and spent the day raking leaves.  I never look forward to that job, but it was nice to get it out of the way.  Hopefully opening the cottage in the Spring will be much easier!!!

The dogs were so happy to be at the lake.  Christmas must have come early for them.  I wonder what goes on in their little heads.  I'm sure it was up them they would be there everyday.

Today's card was inspired by the sentiment.  I really wanted to put the sentiment on the front of the card, but it is huge.  I had to make adjustments to make this card work.  I might at a sentiment to the outside of the card at some point...but for now I left it blank.

Here is the inside sentiment.  I really wish this would have fit on the front with Grandma!

I like how it looks like she is popping a wheely.  It was a total accident, but it worked.

Bright and Beautiful

Happy Monday!

I admit, I'm still plugging away at my Christmas Card list.  Every year I swear I'm going to finish them before Thanksgiving.  Someday, I will meet that goal.   I'm working on some quick cards to help catch up.

It's Christmas

Hello,

I just got home from the craft show at the Senior Center.  It is always a pleasure to see what all those talented ladies are making!   I made a list of things I hope to complete by next year's craft show season.  I'll be happy if I can accomplish three things off of it.  For Christmas, what I really want is more time!

This cutie polar bear has been waiting patiently for his turn on the blog.  I love how he has this itty bitty present balanced on his nose.  The penguin looks like he can't wait to open it! Isn't Christmas exciting??

Flower of the Month: Holly

Hello friends,

Can you believe it is December already?  My goal today is to get the Christmas decorations out.    I feel like I'm already behind.  How is that possible?  Each year there seems like there is less and less days between Thanksgiving and Christmas.    I think everyone is feeling a little overwhelmed, so I wanted to make a some cards that could be done quickly.

Today I used the Holly from the Flower of the Month Series by Lila Grey.   I kept things really simple this month.  I wanted something I could color quickly and get the in the mail.  This will help chip away at my Christmas Card list.  I colored the Holly leaves with G40, G43, G46, G28.  I added some shadows in with W5.   On the berries I used R02, R17, R29, R39.   I used a pair of fine point scissors to cut out the Holly.  Then attached it to the card using a dimensional glue dot.    The background was created with a stamp from Impression Obsession and the embossed sentiment is from an old Stampin Up set.

I think the Holly pulls this card together.  My eyes are drawn to it immediately.  Thanks Lisa for designing such stunning stamps!
