Age is just a number...

Happy Friday!

I have a silly birthday card to share with you today.  It is so hard to come up with gender neutral cards.  When I saw this idea on Pintrest, I had to give it a try.   I love the how the numbers are at different heights.  It creates a fun, playful look.

Inside it says...Yours will remain unlisted.

Baby's Bring Blessings

Hello all,

Connor and I have been busy getting ready for the baby.  I know people say it is a lot a work... they weren't kidding.  I will be the first to admit that we are half the problem.  We probably procrastinated a little too long.  We should have gotten started a little earlier.  This past weekend, my family threw me an amazing baby shower to help us get started.  It was a great party and it was wonderful to catch up with everyone.  Connor and I were humbled by the whole experience.

My Mom, Sister, Grandma, Aunt and a good family friend put there heads together and created a wonderful Jungle (theme of the nursery) party.

Here are some of the crafty items that they made for decorations.
Diaper cake made by my Aunt
My Mom made these cute animal banners.  I'll have to take more pictures to share soon.  She even made one that look like our dogs.
Debbi made these cute animal boxes for party favors
My Aunt made these cute elephant centerpieces for the table
My Mom made most of the food.  She had some help from my Grandma, Aunt and Debbi.

I don't have a photos, but my sister put together all the games.
I also want to give a shout out to Connor who was willing to do whatever job that was asked of him.

These cuties were always eager to help.  Thankfully my Dad was willing to watch them during the party.

I'm so thankful to have such wonderful family and friends.  There is one thing I know for sure that this baby will be welcomed into this world surround by people who love him.

Blushing Flowers

Happy Valentine's Day!

I know technically tomorrow is Valentine's day, but most of us will celebrate tonight.   In a few hours I'm meeting with a group of ladies to work on some copic skills.  I can't think of a better way to spend the day!!

I made many variations of this card.  I made some with Valentine sentiments...and others that would work for everyday situations.   I love the soft, elegant feel of this card.  I put a touch of glitter in the center of each flower.

Lucky Stars

Hello friends,

I've been doing a lot of reflecting lately.  I think it is normal whenever there is a big change in anyone's life.   Connor and I are looking forward having a little baby in the house.   There are moments when I feel like I'm drowning in stress/anxiety.... but overall... I feel so lucky.  I'm surrounded by a wonderful husband, loving family and supportive friends.  The cherry-on-top is a have an amazing stamping family.    Thank you all for kind words, cards, and from time to time shoulder to cry on.  I'm so lucky!!

I can't take full credit for this card.  I was looking for card ideas for St. Patrick's ideas and was inspired by a card I found on Pintrest.  I changed a few of the details to make it my own.

Copics used:
Grey: N9, N7, N5, N3, N1  I also added some W3, W1 to warm up his eyes.  It didn't want to color this part dark because you would lose the details of his cute little face
Green:  YG09, YG06, YG03, --added a few other random greens to add some depth.
I used a multiliner to add smile on the star

Deer Friend

Hello,

I was asked by some of my students to try something new this month.   I made a brave decision and put my copic away and dug out my watercolors.  YIKES!!!  I don't think I have touched them in 10 years.   It is hard for me to embrace the messier look of watercolor, but it has grown on me.

I drew the antlers on this deer with a marker.  I'm getting braver and braver about adding details.

Copics:   I didn't use any, but you could get a similar look by using the colors below
Green: YG61, YG63
Brown: E79, E77, E74, E71

Flowers of Month: Violets

Happy Monday,

It is time to share February's Flower of the month.   This month we are celebrating Violets.  What a beautiful flower!  I'm in love with these guys!!   Seeing that Valentine's Day is just around the corner... I was tempted to color them blue and do a twist on the Roses are Red, Violets are blue poem. However,  after trying a few shades of blue out... I liked the traditional purple better.

I needed to play around a bit to find the right combination of purples.  In the end I chose BV02, BV04, BV08.  I used a little BV17 to add a shadow or two.   When you are applying the colors to the petals, take care to use the darks sparingly.   A little bit of the darker purples go a long way.  I didn't want flowers to be too dark.

I used G02, G05, G09, YG67 to color the leaves.  I chose those colors because they compliment the purples perfectly.

I hope you enjoy February's flower of the month as much as I have.  Lisa did a great job capturing the beauty of these flowers.   You can find her images here.
