Hip Hip Hoorray!!

Hip Hip Hooray,  it is FRIDAY!!!

Memorial Day weekend is a weekend filled with tradition in our house.  It is the weekend summer officially starts.   We dust of the winter blues and open up our cottage on Keuka Lake.  It is a modest little place, with the best view.   In my opinion, it is NY's best kept secret.   How are you spending your Memorial Day weekend? What traditions do you have?

Here is a little dog to help you celebrate!

Beary Cute

Hello Friends!

I survived!  Connor and I ran the 5K for the Cure this morning. We are not runners and didn't train for this at all.  I was nervous, but in the end I'm glad I did it.  When we crossed the finish line, we joined the zumba crew for a 2 hour long Zumbathon.  I'm not sure what we where thinking... every muscle hurts.  Connor and I are both hobbling around the house.  Laughing as we watch each other try to stand up or sit down. Monday morning will be interesting.  We may have over done it, but I have no regrets!

I'm looking forward to another week filled with stamping. I hope you enjoy this card. I used an embossing folder by Spellbinders. Their new folders are made to be reversible.  You get two patterns for the same cost as brands.  It sounds cool, but I found that the folder is thicker than a regular folder.  I had to play around to find a new "sandwich".  I did find one that works, but it still puts a lot of stress on the paper.  I'm not if I like this new style of folder or not.  I will continue to play with it.

Fairy Sweet Friend

Happy Friday!

I'm looking forward to this weekend.  This Sunday, Connor and I are going to TRY to run a 5K.  I'm not a runner....not even close.  I know that I won't be able to run the entire thing, but I'll do my best and be happy with it.  If you see me on Monday...take pity on me... who knows what kind of shape I'll be in.  I might crawl into stamp class.  :)

Today's post is showcasing a card we made way back in March.  I'm trying to make a dent in backlog of cards.  I used a stamp from Kraftin Kimmie.  I colored and cut out the fairy and placed her on the matte.   I love the way she appears to pop out of the frame.  Such a cool affect.

Sweet Little Baby Boy

Hello,

This has been a busy week.  I did a few workshops with the kids from the youth center this week and tomorrow I meet with the Corning Group for a copic workshop.  I'm looking forward to seeing you all!

Today I wanted to share a card that has patiently waiting its turn to be published on the blog.  The image is from Mo Manning.  It is a sweet little baby.  I thought the suspenders looked a little masculine, so I chose to make it a baby boy.

Koala Tilda

Hello Stampers!

I hope you are having a wonderful morning.  I've been busy getting ready for a trip to Rochester this weekend.  I'm looking forward to seeing all my stamping friends this weekend.  The timing of the trip works out perfectly to squeeze in a visit with my Mom for Mother's Day.  I wanted to wish all the MOMs out there a Happy Mother's Day Weekend.

Today's card uses a special edition stamp from Magnolia.  The company created a special release for Australia.   For a while they were only available to residents of Australia.  The rest of the World begged to purchase the stamps too.  After a few months of whining, they started shipping them worldwide.

I have had a lot of fun playing with this image. The main idea for each card has been the same, but I wanted to add some variation.  In class we made cards with a mix of different papers making everyone's card unique.  Here are pictures of the two cards I made.

Butterflies and Marigolds

Hello Stampers,

Northwoods is one of my favorite companies.  They specialize in scenes.  Their images tend to be very detailed and a challenge to color.   This images is part of a limited edition collection they released earlier this year.

I wanted to show you how neat these images look colored with Copics.  It is beautiful!!
Each butterfly is cut out an adhered in with a pop dot.  Love the look.

I used a glitter gel pen to add some sparkle to the flowers

A special note to my copic friends.  This card is a bit tricky to color.  It has a lot of advanced blending incorporated into the flowers.  You can do it!!  Just take your time and don't over saturate the paper.

Copics used:

Wild Wings- Butterfly Folio

Hello!

Today's card is non-traditional.  I found this small stamp company at the convention.  I'm sorry I can't remember their name.  They made these stamps that create a "Folio".  The are available in a few designs.  I purchased the butterfly/wildflower design.

The card opens up leaving room for a greeting, photograph, or room for a post-it note pad.  The posibilites are endless.

On the back of the card there is a place to write a personal note.

If the panels are folded in the opposite order, then you see wildflowers design.  I thought this is a really cool and unique card!

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

Happy Friday!

The Sun is out Today!  I love it.  I'm getting so excited for Lake Season.  I'm so blessed to live in a region of the US with so many beautiful lakes.  One holds a special place in my heart, Keuka Lake.  It also provided the inspiration for our blog: Purple Lake Stamps.  During sunsets, the water looks purple.  It is my favorite time of the day.    This weekend Connor, my Mom, sister, and I will be going to rake some leaves, clean, and relax!   I'm so excited!  Hopefully... the Sun will Stay out.  What are your summer plans this year?

Convention, Tilda and Roo bookmark Card

Hello!

I had a great time at the Akron Convention.  It was really cool to see so many stampers all in once place.  It was really cool. When we walked into the large room, you were instantly overwhelmed. The whole place was filled with venders.  Each vender had brought their entire line of stamps.   There were some big names there.  It was hard to miss the Stamps by Judith booth.  It was by far the largest.  Impression Obsession and Inky Antics was also there.  But what I liked the most was all the little companies.  Some of them I had heard of before...some totally new.

As stampers, we all have our favorite companies.  I know I "stalk" my favorites companies online.   I check their web pages, blogs, and Facebook pages.  I'm always looking for sales information and release dates.  It is much harder to do this for smaller...lesser known companies.  It is easy to loose track of them.  I love that this convention attracted many smaller venders.  It was so inspiring to look at their card samples.  Needless to say... I came home with a pile of new stamps.   They are a breath of fresh air into my stamp collection.   I can't wait to incorporate my new treasures into stamp classes!!!

Today's card is from one of favorite stamp companies: Magnolia.  About a year ago, they released a small collection for Australia.  They featured Tilda with some adorable Australian wildlife.  Tilda with Kangaroo instantly stole my heart!  She is adorable!!

I used the stamp to make a bookmark card.  The most common complaint card makers have is they spend a lot of time on a card and then it eventually ends up in the trash.  Making the main image on the card on the bookmark allows the art work to be enjoyed for a long long time!   I use the tab punch from Stampin Up to create tabs to hold the bookmark in place on the card.    You can also laminate the bookmark to protect the image from fingerprints.
