Rainbows and Butterflies

Happy Memorial Day,

For my family this is the official start of summer and lake season has begun.    This weekend is also packed with chores trying to remove any traces that winter has left.   I know many people today are attending parades and cook-outs.   Hopefully whatever your plans today, you are spending it with loved ones.

Butterflies are a favorite of mine.  I also LOVE the color!  This card is a match made in heaven. The contrast with the black butterfly is perfect.  Surprisingly, it doesn't use copics.  I did it all with sponging.   Then I added some sparkle (can't really see this in the photos).

Stay posted... I have two more butterfly card to share this week!

Close up of the detail.  The card has great texture and sparkles.  I wish the camera could pick this up.

Cali Girl

Hello friends,

This weekend is the official start to lake season.  I'm looking forward to seeing our neighbors and soaking up the sun.  My family and I have been making preparations to open the lake house for the summer months.  I was there recently raking leaves.  It was a tough job they were heavy and wet.   My feet got covered in leaf goo.  I went to wash my feet off in the water...and it was FREEZING!!!   I'm can't imagine immersing myself in that yet...but I'm looking forward to those hot summer days.

I love a challenge and I'm always looking for ways to improve.  Sometimes I forget the joy of making a simple card.  This card is so simple...but is packed with happiness.  Just look at this pig!  He is oozing happiness.   I really enjoyed coloring this one.   Nothing complicated... just simple shading.

Be Unique

Welcome friends,

I love summer.  I love the sun, warm weather, flip-flops, cook-outs..... I could list things all day long. I have been working on a few cards that capture those summer moments.   I wish we had some flamingoes in New York.  They are such interesting animals.

I can't take full credit for this card.  I found the idea on the Reverse Confetti's web page. I didn't have all of the stamps, so i improves with what I already had in my craft room.  I just love the simplicity of this card.

To create the birds I stamped off with the pink to get a lighter shade.  Then just stamped the wings on top to make them darker.  I thought this gave them some contrast...otherwise it all just blended together.

Dog Ears

Hello Friends,

It has been a while since I posted a card video.  I made this card back in April.  It was an instant favorite.  It is a fairly easy card to make once you know how to do it, but it took some playing around to figure it out.

When you pull on his tongue, his ears pop up! Check out the video below.

Check out the video!  If you are looking at this in your email, it won't play.  You need to go to the blog or you tube to see it.

Chocolate Therapy

Hello again,

If you saw my last post, you probably think I'm addicted to chocolate.  Well...let's be honest, who isn't?  I have a few chocolate themed stamps in my collection.  When I was making the last card, I got the idea for this card.  I love the retro-look to the girl.   Somehow I got it in my head to use polka-dots.  I found this blue paper and the rest just came together.   I love the end result... hope you do too!

Chocolate Smiles

Hello friends,

Today's card was inspired by my Grandma.  I don't know anyone who loves chocolate as much as she does.  When she visits...the chocolate follows her.   Suddenly there is chocolate candy on the counter, chocolate ice cream can be found in the freezer, and back-up chocolate candy in the cabinets.  When she leaves...the chocolate supply evaporates.   It is an amazing phenomenon.

Unfortunately, my Grandma had a rough day about a week ago.  She was rushing to her car trying to dodge raindrops.  As she tells it, she slipped on a worm and fell.   She is okay, but she has several bumps and bruises.  She is in great spirits about the whole thing.   I wanted to send her a card to let her know we where thinking of her.   This card just seemed perfect...

The inside of the card reads: "Life Happens, Chocolate Helps."

Copics used:
Purple: V91, V93, V95, V99
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E13, R20
Grey: N3, N1,
Hair: YR30, YR21, E31, E33
Chocolate: E21, E23, E25, E27, E47
When you are adding the chocolate to her face, I found it worked better to do it when the skin colors underneath are still wet.  This way it looks smeared on her face.  If is it dry, it looks more chunky.

Special Delivery

Welcome friends,

Mondays can be rough. To help make the transition a little easier. I have a silly video (39 seconds) of our pups.  This was taken last spring... I just found it on my camera.   If you are viewing this post in email, you have to go to click on the link to watch the movie.

One of my Zumba friends asked me to make a card for an upcoming baby shower.  I looked through my baby stamps and found this stork.  It has been a little while since he has seen some ink.  I was thankful for a reason to get him back out.

Soft Flowers

Happy Saturday!

I'm off to spend the day teaching an Introduction to Copics class.  I really enjoy teaching the intro class.  It is so fun to see students discover how awesome these markers are.   I can't wait to see what they do with them.

Ironically, today's card doesn't use copics.  I made this card a while ago, but I didn't get a chance to get it on the blog.  There is snow in the background of the photos.  I'm so glad that it has melted!!
I love the softness of these flowers. I think I will make a bunch of these to have on hand.   The stamps are from Stampin Up.  I'm not sure if they are retired or not.
