Masked Leaves

Hello,

Isn't funny how techniques float in and off our crafty tables.   I haven't done this style of masking in years. but It seemed like a fun way to accent the leaves on this beautiful embossing folder by Stampin up.   To finish up the card I splattered the paper with gold watercolor.

Field Flowers Three Ways

Hello friends!

Wildflowers are just pretty.  I think they are technically weeds, but yet they have this way of captivating us.  I was instantly in love with this stamp.   I wanted to try to make a masculine card with it.  Can flowers be masculine?  I'd love to hear what you think.

Materials:

Stamps:
Use code TJ10Chris to save 10% on your order

Embossing folder is -Time Worn by Stampin' up

I wanted to try stamping on some patterned paper that I had in my stash.  I think I've had this for about 10 years.  I was so glad to see this paper finally get turned into a card!  Do you have that problem?
I used wood enamel dots on this one... Not sure how I feel about them.  I think I like the twine better.  What do you think?

Perfect Blend

Happy New Year!

I've taken the last two weeks off of card making.  We went on a whirlwind trip to see my father, my in-laws, grandmother, and cousins then back again.  It was an wonderful trip, but the car was packed and I couldn't fit a single crafting item in the car.    Today I sat down to craft and I felt like a fish out of water.  I didn't know where to start.  I spent my time today cleaning off my table instead.  Have you ever felt this way?

I hope the ideas come flooding back soon.  In the meantime, I thought I'd catch up on some blog posts.  We made this card in December class.  I love this embossing folder by Tim Holtz.  I paired it with an old stampin up coffee cup stamp set.  I thought the cup matches perfectly with the folder.

I used a bit of W3, W1 to add some shadow to the whip cream.

The coffee was created with distress ink.

Stupid or What?!

Happy Thursday,

Connor is finally home from his Colorado skiing weekend.  It is nice to have him back in the house.  I think the dogs missed him too.  When I brought him home from the airport, we decided to play a little prank on the dogs.  I went into the house first and let them out of their kennel.  They gave me the normal, excited greeting, walking circles around me tails wagging and toys in their mouths.   Our black lab noticed I left the door open and ran over...as she got close she noticed a man standing in the doorway.  She skidded to a stop and let out a huge, mean sounding bark.  In the next second she realized it was Connor and her attitude changed instantly.  She was so excited to see him.

Keeping with the humor.... I have a silly card for you.

Happy Throw-Back Thursday,

I'm doing a little more catching up.   I love this card.  I made it about a year ago...but recently made a bunch more of them.   I love this ornate flower from Stampin Up (retired).   It is so beautiful.

Hello friends,

I've started Halloween cards!  They are some of my favorite cards to make.   My Monday ladies love hedgehogs....so when I saw this stamp, I inked it up for them.   I made a few of these that say "Happy Halloween" and a few that "My Fabulous Friend" for those who do not care for Halloween.

A little Bit of Fairy Dust

Hello all,

I finally finished the video!!!  I'm slowly learning how to navigate the software.   It is a process...and I'm sure I'll master it at some point.   I hope to start making tutorials on a regular basis.  It is still a long process.  It took me 30 minutes to color the image and 13 hours to produce the video.  At the moment, it just isn't practical to do this for every card....yet!

Enough of logistics....on to the fun stuff.  Recently, I was asked to make some cards that would put a smile on your face.  This could go in lots of different directions...and of course is different for everyone.   I stumbled across this image of Fairy making some fairy dust.  It was so unique... I had to give her a try.

She has been making people laugh ever since.   If this is not your type of humor... just leave the "puff" off the card.  It looks like the fairy is tasting the icing on the cake.

Here is the video that I made of coloring.  Remember is you are looking at this post via email then the video won't work.  You need to visit the blog to play the video.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E21, R20
Hair: E99, YR24, Y21, E50
Green: YG03, YG06, YG09
Blue: B91, B95
Yellow: Y11, Y15

I added some lines in her eyes with B97.

Elegant Vines

Hello Stampers,

I had a question from one of my students about chalk.  Chalk isn't something I think to use very often and I thought this is a great excuse to get it out and play.   I love the elegant look of this card.

No copics...just chalk!!

Harvest Blessings

Hello all,

Fall has arrived.  I'm really excited about pumpkins and fall colors.  Oh... I love fall colors. They are so rich and warm.

I purchased this stamp last fall. It has been collecting dust, patiently waiting for Fall to arrive.   It is made by Justrite Stamps.    The sentiment is from Verve Stamps.  The two companies paired together well.   I love the clean and simple look.

Sunrise on the Farm

Hello Stampers!

It has been a while since I shared a card that featured airbrushing.  I love to airbrushing!  It is one of my favorite techniques, I don't know why I don't do it more.    This card was so easy to make.  I used three colors to airbrush the sunrise (or sunset).  Then I stamped the farm scene on top. It was so easy and fun to make!

If you want to give it a try, we will be making this card in the July's Card Lover's class.
I hope to see you there!
Chris

Bee-Thankful

Happy Friday!

It is hot here!  Today is the first real day that summer actually feels like it has arrived.  I'm so excited that we are enjoying it at the lake.  I hope you are finding some respite from the heat!

Today's card was showcased at June's Card Lover's Class.  It was a group favorite.  I love the honeycomb embossing folder.  It worked perfect with this stamp.  It is difficult to see in the photo, but I added some glitter to the bee's wings.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Winter Friends

Hello Stampers!

I'm not sure where you are located, but the thermometer has been moving steadily in one direction.... DOWN.  At times like this, I'm glad we have two cute little puppies to cuddle with.  They keep me nice and toasty.

Our card today celebrates our winter friends.  This little penguin and polar bear are adorable.

Whipper Snapper: Puff and Stuff
I must have had Christmas on the brain... If I was going to change something about this card, I would change the color of the present.  I think the red present makes the card look a little like Christmas.  I wanted to make this more of a winter birthday card.  Below the colors I used, but I would suggest using purples or blues for the gift.

Copics used:
Blacks/Grey: C7, C5, C3, C1, C0
Blue: B01, B00, B000
Gift: R29, R24, G28
Orange: YR17

I finished the card off with some glitter on the penguin's hat.

Have a Heart

Hello again,

Today I'm just popping by with a quick post.  I made this non-traditional Valentine's Day card. I love the texture of this card.  Each heart is embossed with a different pattern.

Have a wonderful day!
Chris
