Happy New Year

Hello!

Today I stepped (more of a creep than a leap) outside my comfort zone a little.  When I think Navy I usually think silver.   I've seen a lot of other card makers using gold with Navy.  I was inspired to give it try.  I have to say I LOVE it!  What do you think?  Do you have color hangups?

I hope you had a wonderful holiday.  We had a great visit with my family.  I wish we were able to see each other more.   It is hard when we are scattered across so many States.

Oh Christmas Tree

 Hello!

How are all of your Christmas preparations going? I just wrapped up my last craft show for the year.  I need to start focusing on wrapping presents and making some Christmas treats.   I've still trying to sneak in a few more Christmas cards in before the season escapes us.

I used these stamps by Technique Junkies to create this silly card.  This cat stamp has been a long time favorite. It paired perfectly with the new Christmas tree stamp.  Just to spice up the layout a little I used the vertical Merry Christmas.  I like that you can see it when the card is closed and open.  What do you think?

Santa (Then and Now) Part 2

 Hello!

Here is another one of my favorite Santa images (also from Whipper Snapper Designs).  I first colored this 10 years ago (bottom image).  I thought it was time to give him a makeover.    I always recommend to my students to color and image and date it.  This way in a year or more... you can color it again and see how much you've grown as an artist.

Happy coloring friends!  I hope you've enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

Santa (Then and Now) Part 1

Hello!

This Santa images is one of my favorites.  He is from Whipper Snapper Designs.   I used to make a lot of square cards, but stopped because the postage system charges extra to mail them.  Early this year, I was introduced to the book-binding card.  I love this layout because it has the feel of square card, but meets all the USPS requirements.

If you are interested in trying a book- binding card.. You can cut a piece of cardstock to 4.25 by 11 inches.  You will score at 4.25 and 5.5 inch along the long side.  I'll make a video on this very soon if this doesn't make sense.
