Oh, Deer!

Hi!

I wanted to think outside the box on this one.   I did a little stamp surgery to cut apart the stamp to separate the reindeer from the words.  You can see the original stamp here.   Then I hunted through all of my inks to find 8 shades of brown (I'll try to list them all below).  I stamped each deer on a slim line sized panel and added a brown gem to their noses.   I added glitter to the snow bank and sky.  I'm hoping that makes it feel like there is a snow storm.  I think they are looking for their buddy to save the day!   I might handwrite on the front- "Have you seen him?"  or "Where did he go?"  or "Oh, Deer"   What do you think?

He is hiding on the inside of the card.

Experimental Cake

Hello,

I wanted to play around with adding chunky glitter and fine to a stenciled image.  I first stenciled all the images in a variety of different colors.  Once the ink was dry, I went back and added gloss gel with a stencil spatula.  I pulled off the stencil and then sprinkled chunky clear glitter or find glitter on the wet gloss gel.   The gloss gel works as a glue.  When it dries the glitter will not brush off.   I set aside each panel to dry.  To finish them off I splattered some ink on card fronts and added a sentiment.   I'd love to know what card you like best!

Zen Trees

Hello!

TJ just came out with another great background stamp called Zen Trees.  I live the zentangle look.  I wanted the focus to be on the background, so I revisited a favorite card layout.   You can see it here. I made a video using some other TJ stamps.  It is a great fun fold because it is easy to make and also easy for the recipient to figure out.   I hope you will give it a try.

I made a card while ago using this layout.  You can see it here.

Envelope Shaped Card- Yep you read that right!

 Hello!

I've been dying to share this card with you all.   I made this for my Mom for her birthday.  She loves fall and fall colors.    I wanted to do something different.  I had the idea of spraying mica spray on white cardstock and use that for die cutting.   If you are not familiar with mica sprays... they are BEAUTIFUL.  They blend together really well and have a shine.   It is different than glitter.   I wish the photo was able to show this a bit better.  There is a lot of added texture by using the mica vs regular cardstock.

I used Envelope of Wonder Starter Die to create the envelope card shape.  Then filled it with leaves.  I used a wax seal to finish off the card (this is my new obsession).  I hope you love this idea.  I think my mom liked her card.  I'm excited to make more of these!

Materials:

Ink:Versa clair: Amazon
White gel pen:  Scrapbook or Amazon- optional

Lights of Christmas

 Hello!

I have another Christmas card for you.  I colored the lights in sparkle gel pen. They really shine. I wish the camera could pick it up.  You will just have to trust.  I wanted to add the lights to a tree.  I went about it in an out of the box way.  I used the negative space so I could still use the entire background stamp.   I added a gold star on the top of the tree.  This would be a great card to mass produce for Christmas.

I don't know who makes the small Christmas tree die.  It has been in my stash forever.

A Halloween Hello

 Hello!

I couldn't resist this die set from Spellbinders.   I love all the details that are included in these dies.   The make creating this type of card easy and fun.   With exception of the card base (3.5 x 6 inch) and mat, I was able to use scraps to die cut all the pieces.   I embossed the background with a spiderweb pattern to add to the spookiness.   I can't wait to experiment with the other holiday sets they release.

As always I love to hear what you think?
Happy Stamping friends,
Chris

Hanukkah

Welcome!

I know Christmas cards often over shadow Hanukkah cards, but I didn't want to leave out our Jewish friends.   This Hanukkah Background is really pretty.  I love how the icons are spaced.  I think it creates an elegant look.  I didn't want to cover up the background so I paired it with the greeting and let it be the star of the show.

I used a scrap from when I cut down the background to use on the inside of the card. I wanted to carry the background all the way through.   I hope you love it and it inspires you to get crafty today!
