For the Love of Embossing

Happy Friday!

Another week passed in a blink of an eye.  I managed to narrow down my wish list and place my pre-order for the Magnolia Summer Memories stamp release.  Now I just have to wait for them to get here.  The poor mailman has no idea...that I will be lingering next to the mailbox for the next two weeks.

We all love embossing folders!!   I don't know a stamper that doesn't collect this season's backgrounds, from hearts to leaves we want to be prepared for the limitless creations are dancing around our creative brains.  I know I have a stack of them that is a mile high.

We have all used them to create texture for the back of our cards, but what about the front?  I have been challenging myself to find alternative ways of using them.

I thought I would try this simple flourish next to Tilda.  I'm not sure how I feel about it.  It still feels like it is missing something.  I'd love to hear your thoughts/ideas.   I'm going to keep playing with the idea.

Many Hugs,
Chris

Thinking of HOO

Just a quick post.  Another owl card.  I love the simplicity of this card.  The stamp set is by My Favorite Things.  It is called "Thinking of Hoo".   I found the patterned paper in the clearance isle of Hobby Lobby!  I love a bargain.

You Add Color to My World

Good Afternoon Stampers!

It is FRIDAY!!!  I have had another wonderfully busy week.  I received card order from a local store.  I'm so proud to be the artist on display!  It is so nice of them to support local artists.  If you are from the Corning area check out Connors Mercantile to see the wonderful collection of goodies they have in stock.

I made this card late last week, but never had a chance to post it.  It is one of the three owl cards that I'm using for my card club this month.  This is my favorite.

This card is made with one stamp set (I think it is from Hero Arts).   I stamped the owls on a variety of color papers.  I pulled them from my scraps from other cards.  I cut each one out and arranged them on the hemp cord that I wrapped around the brown CS.   Lastly I glued the GOOGLY eyes on them.  The card is simple, but I loved the way it turned out!

Please let me know what you think!  Check back to see the other two owl cards I made.

Whew... I made it threw the post without one owl pun.   I didn't think I could do it!

Tilda as a bridesmaid

Wedding Season has arrived!  Connor and I have been invited to three weddings over that last few months.  I'm so happy for our friends.  Today's card is in preparation of some Celebration!!!

I have colored this image several times, but this is favorite finished card. There are just so many little details in the image.  I had a lot of fun playing with them.   Here is my "love list":  I love the texture to Tilda's hair.  I love the color of the flower girl's dress.  The yellow just pops in the bouquets.   The glitter on her dress and veil was just enough sparkle.  I even added some perfect pearls to her necklace.  Weddings are such a happy time!!

Enjoy!

Lesson's I learned the from the Easter Bunny Scrapbook

I created this album a few years ago. I made three of them as gifts for Connor's parents.  We spend the holiday with his grandma in Florida.   The template is something I figured out on my own.  I'm offering it as a class on April 26th at Hobby Lobby.   Send me a note if you plan on joining us!

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Happy Friday!
I had a fun special order this week.   Nurse Appreciation day is about a month away and the customer wanted a special way to recognize her co-workers.   I played around with a few ideas, but Tilda was hard to resist.

I made the main image into a bookmark.  They are held to the card by the tabs.  This way the recipient can treasure Tilda for a long time.  The bookmarks were personalized with their names.  I also made a few with a more generic verse.

Raining Happiness

I can't believe the week is coming to a close already!  I guess time really does fly when you are having fun.   I had five stamp classes this week!!! It was a lot of work to put everything together, but I had a blast doing it!  Thank you all for your support!

I wanted to share my favorite new creation of the week.  I love the House Mouse line of stamps.  The antics of these little mice can't help but make you smile.   In need of another card for classes this week, I dove into my stamp collection.

Inspired by the rain/sleet cold yucky weather outside. I wanted to make something happy!  This little guy was perfect!

Here are the copics I used to color the image.  I'm going to try to Recipes more often.

Mouse: E53, E50, E33, E30
Water: BG000, BG02
Green: YG67, YG63, YG61
Yellow: Y19, Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11
Ink: Tuxedo Black and Night of Navy (SU)
Paper: Bashful Blue and White
Accessories: Glossy Accents (gives rain drops a "wet"look).

Thanks for looking. As always, I love your feedback.

Easter Sweeties

Good Afternoon,
I hope you had a wonderful Good Friday.  It is hard to believe that Easter has arrived.  My in-laws are on their way into town to visit.  This is the first time they have seen our new house.  Hopefully they will love it as much as we do!

Here is my Easter post!
This is the new stamp by Lili of the Valley.   I had a lot of fun coloring it.  The ducklings turned out great!  They looked like they were on a little adventure.  I added just a little sparkle to the Easter egg.

Happy Easter!

April Showers bring May Flowers

Hello Stampers!

The weather in upstate NY has been strangely odd this year.  This is my first NY winter in years.  I was expecting to be knee deep in snow and buried under pile of blankets. The snow never really arrived.   The last few weeks have been warm and spring like.  I took the flip flops out of the closet and retired the winter coat.    Spring has officially arrived and the sun has disappeared.  Sleet is falling from the sky and I’m hiding under a fleece blanket.  In order to coax spring out again.  I made this simple textured card. I hope Mother Nature will hear my plea.

The embossing folder and stamp  is made by Stampin Up.

I stamped the greeting in a grey ink to keep the soft look to the card.
The color of the flowers and stems were adding chalk. Chalking isn’t a technique I use often, but it gives a very soft romantic feel.
Thanks for looking.  I hope you are warm and stamping!
