Touch of Color Akron 2025
Hello friends.
Thank you so much for joining me for class today. It was pleasure to meet you. Below is all the photos of the cards we made today. There are a lot of ways to add color to a project. I hope you had fun experimenting with watercolor, pencils and alcohol markers. The theory behind adding the colors are the same, the process is just a little different. Hopefully you found something you enjoy. Please let me know if you have any questions. You can always email me.
The topic of paper was popular today. Here is the link to the correct type of paper. Neenah makes several kinds of paper and it can be confusing. This is the paper that I use to color with copics. I also use it for pencils...but you plan to do a lot of layering you should invest in specialized paper.
The second question that I got asked what the cheapest place to buy copics. Click here.
This is a good source for gamsol.

Just Wanted to Say...
Hello friends,
I did something I haven't done in awhile. I stamped all the images (okay stamped them several times) in a stamp set. I used my zig markers to add some color. I fussy cut them all out (they do make dies). I finished all the cards up the same way. I used a variety of background stamps to stamp the center panel. I stamped the panel tone on tone so it wouldn't distract from the main image. The strips were left over from other projects. This was the ultimate win. First, I used up some scraps. Second, they worked out great to anchor the images on the panel. Lastly, they paired perfectly with the "Just Wanted to say" sentiments. I love when it all comes together! Do you have a favorite of these critters?

Fun-Tusk-Tic
Hello friends,
Life here is slowly getting back to normal (whatever that is). For me anyway... that is being able to sneak away to my craft room and work on cards here and there. This Walrus is from Trinity stamps is an adorable set. I watercolored him a while back and he has been sitting in my tray of unfinished colored images waiting patiently for his turn on a card.
I created the background by sponging brown ink through a stencil a stencil to make sand. Then splattering blue ink to create sky.

Bee Day Gnome
Hello,
These series of gnomes are just so sweet. The bee gnome might be one of my favorite. It comes with this Bee Day sentiment. I used my Zig markers to color this image. The markers blend easily on watercolor paper. To finish up this card, I used some pattern paper from my scrap bin to create a mat for the card. It made a perfect backdrop for this Birthday Bee.

Faux Watercolor
Hello,
I'm still playing catch up on the blog. Things in our lives are starting to calm down a little bit (THANK GOD). I'm so happy to have a second to catch my breath and hopefully allow myself to find an equilibrium again.
Today's card was from last month's technique class. It is faux watercolor technique. This whole card is done with stamps... no painting involved at all! The stamp set is from Concord and 9th. The stamps are cleverly designed to give an uneven impression giving a watercolor look. I love watercoloring, but it is nice to have a quick and easy alternative at times too.

You Had Me at Dog
Hello friends,
These are some faux watercolor cards. I bought some decorative paper that looked like it has a watercolor wash across them. I wasn't totally lazy. I did add splatter dots to all the panels to add more texture and interest. I then stamped each panel with the dog stamp. They really came to life when I used a white gel pen to add details to the nose and eyes of each pup. To finish off each card I added sentiments and paw prints. I love the simple and fun result. Do you have a favorite color? or sentiment?

Hello,
I'm in love with this month's release. This is one of my favorite stamps. I cut it apart to add to its versatility. Check out the video to see how I hid a gift card in the design. This is a design that can easily modified to fit your favorite stamp! You can watch video hereYou could use copic R56 to color wine.

Experimental Water
Hello all,
I wanted to play around a bit with water today. I chose the wave stamp because I thought they would compliment each other. I inked the stamp up in Navy ink and then sprayed the stamp with water. In my opinion, the one I strayed a lot turned out the best. It allowed the most movement of ink. Obviously that is the point. I guess the major learning point is that it takes a lot of water to create that movement.
This was a lot of fun and it was VERY easy to do. I finished off each card with glitter and Happiness sentiment.
