Side Step Fishing Card

 Hi!

I love cards that can "Wow"  the recipient.  Side step cards are a great because they easy to create but don't skimp on the WOW!.   I've made a few center step cards in the past that are similar.   They are linked here if you want to see them (friendshipbirthday, and cowboy).

The really nice thing about a sidestep card vs. a center step card is you have the ability to create hanging elements that help create that "Wow" impression.  This card still fits into a A2  envelope but the fishing pole and sign hang off the card.  The steps help create the illusion of an immersible scene.

Berry Best Strawberries- with video tutorial

 Hello friends,

I love that summer just around the corner  I'm looking forward to fresh strawberries (hopefully without the mouse)!

If you take my copic classes, you know we have been working on mastering RED.  It can be very difficult to get a good blend.  This card was great practice because we would adjust our blends on each strawberry to make them look a little different, but still part of a group.

You can watch here to see the process that I follow.

Materials and copics are linked below.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to create the border.  It has been discontinued, but this die is very similar.

Stamp is called House Mouse Sleeping with Strawberries.  There are several available on Ebay, and Etsy.  If you do a google search. I think you can find one.

Meow, Meow

 Hello!

Here is another card that has been on my wishlist to try for a while.  I saw a similar card on J. Mcguire's blog years ago.  She flipped the colors on two eclipse cards.  I love that it helps the design pop out a little more than a traditional eclipse card.  The photos don't show that the "Meow" is raised up on foam.

I made the paws on this card a darker brown. I think if I did this again, I would try cream.

Stamps and Dies are linked at bottom of post.

Questionable Motives

Why did the chicken cross the road?   This chicken is sick of getting asked.  She dreams of a world where her motives are not questioned.   Haha..

I wanted to compare the spray mist technique to the copic colored chicken.  I sprayed paper with spray mist and die cut the chicken parts from the paper.  At first I wasn't sure I liked the results.  However, once I got his eyes and accent added he really grew on me.  He is a little darker than the copic chicken.  You definitely have less control over the spray mist.   However, the texture and sparkle from the mist is really pretty.

What look do you prefer? You can see my experiment here

Logical Eating with video

Hello friends,

I have another silly card for you.  On the inside it says- "Fine it was pizza, I ate pizza".   I love the chef.  She looks like she might have a bit of a saucy attitude.  She would pair well with any of the food or wine sentiments.

While I was coloring this my Marker blobbed. Check out my video.  You can see how I colored it and how I recovered from my copic blob.

Men and Fish are alike... (with video)

Greetings,

I think this little guy needs a help. I love all the different expressions on the fish faces.

The vellum on this card is a key ingredient. The stencil created a beautiful wave pattern in the background, but it made it really busy.  It was hard to know what to focus on.  The vellum softens the pattern and brings the worm and fish into the foreground.  The best part is that I don't think the vellum is that noticeable.   Most people wouldn't give it any thought.  Cool huh?

Crazy Penguin

 Welcome,

This is my second post for today.  I'm probably going to double post for a few days.  I wanted to get all the cards posted before convention next week.   The expression on this penguin's face makes him perfect for any type of snarky card.  He just looks like he has seen a little mischief.

Regular or Decaf?

 Welcome,

This is one of the cards that I will be teaching at Akron 2022.  My favorite part of this card is the spilled coffee background.  I used four colors of distress oxide ink to create the coffee look.  I made a similar card a few years ago.  You can click here to see how I did it.

All the materials are linked below:

If I were to make this card again, I would put the punchline- :Honey it's Monday...Don't even play.. on the inside of the card.  I think it would add to the joke.

Tag- Easter Chick

 Hello. (again)!

This is my second post of the day.  I'm playing a little catch up.  I know Easter has passed, but these are so cute I wanted to post.    I made these for the Easter class at the Senior center.  We had so much fun putting these together.  I love the eyes on the bird all the way to the right.  He looks like he just learned that bunnies lay eggs on Easter too! 😂😂😂😂.

I hope you all had a great Easter with your families!

Chris

Baby, Bunnies, and Balloons

 Hello,

It has been awhile since I've made a slim line card.  I forgot how addictive that is!  Spellbinders released this bunny die in March 2022.   I think this was intended to be an Easter card, but in my head I see it as a baby card.  What do you think?

Stenciled Flowers

 Hello stampers!

I'm so impressed with how much stencils have changed.  When I first started stamping, they were a must have in the craft room, but it was because we needed them to create circles and shapes for our cards.  There was no such thing as a die cut machine at that time.    Once die cutting came about, stencils faded into the background but this resurgence has made me fall in love all over again.   This card is so easy and fast to make because of stencils.  The only stamp I used was sentiment.

Spring Wreath with Bunny

Hi!

Bunnies are cute yearound, but they are extra cute at Easter.  I love this new die set from Taylored Expressions.   Their new Squad die made these really easy and fun to make.  I recently purchased an animal face stamp set from Peachy Keen stamps.  These bunnies were the perfect size.  I'm absolutely in smitten with their expression.  I can't wait to make a bunch more of these.

You are one of My Favorite Peeps

 Welcome,

I teamed up with my hubby on this one.  I wanted to make a peep card.  The shape was simple enough, but I wanted to find a way to spice it up.   He came up with adding the shadow to make them look more three dimensional.   I added some accessories to give them each a little personality.   I used copics to give them some dimension too.

What do you think?  Should I made these in pink too? What peep color is your favorite?

Will work for Jellybeans

 Hi,

Whipper Snapper is one of my favorite companies.  They have a whole bunch of really (I mean REALLY) cute bunny stamps.  This little guy just hopped on my stamp table and made himself a little home on my card.  Do you have any spare jelly beans?   Wait, is there such a thing as spare jelly beans?

Over the Rainbow class 2022

  Hello friends.

Thank you so much for coming to class today!  It was pleasure to meet you.  It was nice to have a small group and allow us to chat a bit.   Below is all the photos and links.  I will be adding two more in the next few days.

The topic of paper was popular today.  Here is the link to the correct type of  paper.  They make several kinds and it can be confusing.  This is the paper that I use to color with copics.  I also use it for pencils...but you plan to do a lot of layering you should invest in specialized paper.

The second question that I got asked what the cheapest place to buy copics.  Click here.

The third is this is a good source for gamsol.
