Favorite Stinker

Hello,

Check out this little stinker!  He is a fairly new release from the Unity company.  He is giving off Pepe le Pew vibes.

This was all a happy accident. I was trying to make a card with another stamp, but the stamp turned out to be way too small for this card sketch.   This guy just came in the mail and still on my desk.  He fit perfectly.   I'm going to go back to the drawing board for my original image, but I'm glad this one made it onto a card.  He is just adorable.

Love You- Heart Parade

Hello,

Taylored Expressions came out with with this heart background stamp.  I love the possibilities it brings.   I was thinking about this as a Mother's Day card.   A mom and baby hugging and you can see all the love.   I made the hearts rainbow, but you could do any color.   I'm glad I have this staple in my stash.

Brighten Your Day

Hey,, Is it Spring Yet?

I feel like that is what this little bunny is peeking in to see.  Isn't he cute?   It doesn't have to be an Easter card, but it is hard not to think Easter when you see a bunny.     Maybe that would be a fun challenge...making bunny cards that have nothing to do with Spring or Easter.  Who is in?

Brightening My Day- Animals Gone Wild

Hello again,

I was so excited about yesterday's card I couldn't wait to share another one. This giraffe is making the world a better place.  We need more friendly giraffes. I made a bunch of these in different colors.  I think they will be fun to send out.  I can't wait to see what these quirky animals get up to next.

Old Fashioned Hello

Hello,

Just a quick card for you today.  I love this old fashioned phone from Stampin up.  We used to have one hanging on the wall at the cottage.  My sister and I used to play with a lot as a kid.  I wonder if my child would know how to use it to call someone if he had to use one.  It would be so much fun to see him try.

I picked a bright color because I wanted the phone to be the focal point and star of the card since it was so simple.  I love how the phone cord spells out "hey" and offers a simple greeting for the front.

Fall Turnabout

Hey, Hi, Hello there!   I'm so grateful you are here.

Well that about sums up these cards.   Concord and 9th came out with a new turnabout stamp.  This one has a beautiful Fall them with mushrooms, leave, acorns, and flowers.   I created a 6x6 inch panel with the stamp so that I could create two cards.   It is hard to see but on the "Hey" card I used a spellbinders 3D harvest embossing folder.  It also features mushrooms, so they paired perfectly together.

It Isn't Easy Being Green

Hi!

Who doesn't love Kermit the Frog?  He is just so lovable!  I found this stamp on ebay,  It is a vintage (20+ years) old wood mounted stamp.   He just looks like he is full of wit and wisdom to share with friends and family!

I think the "it isn't easy being green" sentiment works perfectly for either a thinking of you or an encouragement card.   I stamped "You've Got this" on the inside of some of the cards.

Just Wanted to Say...

 Hello friends,

I did something I haven't done in awhile.  I stamped all the images  (okay stamped them several times) in a stamp set. I used my zig markers to add some color.  I fussy cut them all out (they do make dies).  I finished all the cards up the same way.  I used a variety of background stamps to stamp the center panel. I stamped the panel tone on tone so it wouldn't distract from the main image.   The strips were left over from other projects.   This was the ultimate win.  First, I used up some scraps.  Second, they worked out great to anchor the images on the panel. Lastly, they paired perfectly with the "Just Wanted to say" sentiments.   I love when it all comes together!   Do you have a favorite of these critters?

Thorns and All

 Hello friends,

Well life is messy.   In my head it is easy to organize and accomplish all the things but when it comes down to it somehow life manages rearrange the best laid plans.   All the important things are going well and that is all that matters.

We took on some major project this winter, but I'm hoping to get back on a more regular schedule on the blog.  I've missed sharing my cards with you all.  I have a mountain of them on my desk that I can slowly work through.   How do you feel about Christmas cards in May?

Today I have a some plant cards for you!  Taylored Expressions came out with a clever stencil and die set that creates a bunch of plants and pots.  You can mix and match them to create a variety of styles.  As you can see I made a bunch.  I love how all the cards turned out.

I added the little die cuts of the cats because I thought that added a little personality to each card.

Thank you for stopping in and checking in on me.   I hope you are working on your creative adventures!

Diving Deeper

 Happy Valentine's Day,

This card has been sitting on my desk since the summer.  I made this card with a kit from Spellbinders. You can see the card here.   I love the bottle card, but I wanted to make a simpler version of the card.  I tried to put together a few elements to make the cards below.    I did get stuck on the design for a bit... I couldn't figure out how to dress up the embossing folder.  It just felt flat.   In the end I went with ink blending a dark blue ink on the bottom and splattering some ink to create bubbles.  I think that made all the difference.  I love that when I have time, I can pull out the full kit and have a die cutting party.  When I'm short on time I can make this version.

As always, I love to know what you think!

You make me so

Hello all,

I'm still working my way through my gnome series.  This card was inspired by a MFT card designer.  This is my take on it.   I wanted to switch up the gnome style a little bit today. This gnome is from My favorite things.   He is currently out of stock, but they bring him back often.    To create this card you will want to do all of your coloring first.   Then I layered the blue letters off set on top of the black letters.  I used a thin foam tape to pop up the letters to give the card some dimension.    I hope you love this one!

A True Treasure

 Hello!

I loved the idea of this gnome popping in on someone looking at this vintage map.  It just seemed like a pirate-y thing to do.   I'm still loving these playful gnomes.  Their antics are just so fun.

To finish this card off I used some chocolate brown ink to sponge the edge of the card.  I thought it aged the map a bit.

Drop in the Ocean

 Hello all,

Die cutting has been part of the paper crafting world now for well over a decade, but as with all things it is forever changing.  Companies continue to get more and more creative and detailed with their dies.   When I saw this new set by Spellbinders I couldn't wait play with it.   I will admit I was a bit intimidated that it takes 20 dies to make this card... but it was super easy.  I had a lot of fun making 14 cards.   The best part is  I used all scraps to make this card (except the white card base).    My scrap bins can breathe a little!

As you look at the photos, please notice that each project is a bit different.    I also found an Orca that fit in the bottle.  I hope to continue to search my stash and find other critters that want to go for a swim.  Please let me know what you think.

Bad Example

Hello,

I'm so lucky to have crafty friends.  I thought it would be fun to make some cards that highlight our love of stamping.  This stamp is perfect because we often joke that stamping is therapy.  We share (some funny...some serious) a lot of things while making cards.  I thought this was just a fun twist on a thinking of you card. What do you think?

Peace and Comfort

Hello,

Sadly,  I've had to make a lot of Sympathy cards lately.  This set from Technique Junkies is called Peace and Comfort.  It was perfect for these religious cards.   I had this cross from Simon Says Stamp. I love how this cross has an intricate piece and also a simple cross.  You create two cards at once.  This is really helpful when you need to make several cards.

Tomato Soup?

 Welcome!

I have a silly card for you today.  It is nice to take a break from holiday cards and do something that will hopefully make you smile.   This sentiment is made by Riley and Co.  I thought it paired well with the old Tim Holtz blueprint drink set.   This set is challenging to use.  I got this set because it felt more masculine. All the images have the sketchy lines and line to them.  I'm not sure I love that.  I think I might try to mask them off next time.  What do you think?   Do you like them? hate them? neutral?

Anyway, I hope this brings a smile to your face.  I think it is a fun encouragement card.

Bits and Pieces

Hi!

Do you have bits and pieces all over your stamp table. I have tons. I have a bowl of sentiments, another of rejected die cuts from various projects, a tray of paper strips, and random other tidbits. This card kind of just came together. I had made the background earlier this month. I was going through my bowl of die cuts and found this cat. I thought it was the same style as the background. How perfect? I needed to pair them together. I even found a hello on my desk to add to the mix. I wish all card making was this easy!

Short Girls

Hey hey!

This is new stamp by Technique Junkies.  It is perfect.  My sister is short.  Everyone in my family has several inches on her.  It has been a long running joke.  She is short, but she is mighty.  You will hear her before you see her.  She is strong and fierce... all packed into a small little container.   I made her this card with the new stamp.  I'm sure she will get a kick out of it.
