Toucan Do It

Hello friends,

I've had this stamp set for an embarrassing amount of time.  I know we all have those.  Something (I wish I knew what) made me think of it.   I'm so glad that I got it out and finally used it.   Toucans are such fun birds.

Old Fashioned Hello

Hello,

Just a quick card for you today.  I love this old fashioned phone from Stampin up.  We used to have one hanging on the wall at the cottage.  My sister and I used to play with a lot as a kid.  I wonder if my child would know how to use it to call someone if he had to use one.  It would be so much fun to see him try.

I picked a bright color because I wanted the phone to be the focal point and star of the card since it was so simple.  I love how the phone cord spells out "hey" and offers a simple greeting for the front.

Fabulous, Fierce and Amazing

Hello friends,

I was playing with a new toy this week.  I discovered  Scribble Sticks (click here) through a friend Lisa Christenson.  She is an amazing watercolorist.  You can check out her blog here.   She made a few cards with them and I wanted to give them a shot.  They are so fun and easy to use.  My favorite part is the vibrant colors they produce.

I've Got Your Back

Howdy,

Thanks for stopping by today.    I have an encouragement card to share with you today.  I know that we don't often think to make or send them encouragement cards.   However, as I move into this phase of my life.  I see my friends struggle with all sorts of issues.  Some with divorce,  health issues, parenting issues, work issues...etc.   Life is full of stress.  We live in a age where it is easy to write on their wall, send an email, or a text message.  I think it is nice to send encouragement cards.  They can set the card on their desk or mantel and it serves as a constant reminder that they are not alone.  It last so much longer than a text message.    I fell in love with this image as soon as I saw it.  I hope it brightens someone's day.

I'm finding more and more that having encouragement/thinking of you cards on hand is helpful.  It is nice to send them out to friends that are having a tough day.  Who doesn't love happy mail?!

Dancing in the Rain

Happy Monday,

I colored this card awhile ago, but it never made it off my craft table.  April tends to be a rainy month, so I thought it fitting it makes it debut now.

Copics used:
Red: R05, R14, R17
Green: G20, G21, G24
Skin: E00, E000, E11, R20
Hair: E13, E15, E17
Yellow: YR24, Y17, Y15, Y13
I added some blue liquid pearls.  I didn't like these at all. I wouldn't do it again.  They flattened out and look more like blobs.  I would just color them with B00, B01 instead.

Tilda Makeover

Happy Monday!

Connor and I had another busy weekend.   Connor was asked to teach at a Zumbathon this weekend.  We put on our dancing shoes, burned some calories and raised money for a good cause.    To celebrate surviving our three our workout we met my Dad for lunch.  He was nice enough to drive down from Rochester to help Connor fix our garage door.   It is so nice to have that working again!  It is the little thing, right?!

I was also able to catch up on some of thing that have been lingering on my craft table for a while.  I originally colored this image about 18 months ago.   At the time I was so proud of how it turned out.   Recently,  I pulled the card out and I was surprised at how much I've improved.  I wanted to recreate the card and compare.   I think it important to remember that using copics is a journey.  We are all constantly improving.  This just serves as a reminder.  I wonder where I'll be 18 months from now.

Here is the older card:

Here is the updated card:

WhooHooo!

WhooHooo it is Wednesday,

November is filled with reminders to be thankful.  This little owl is celebrating the little things in life.

I used my silhouette to cut out the bird cage.  I love my silhouette, but I still struggle getting detailed die cuts to peel off the mat nicely.  The edges become a little fuzzy. Any ideas?  I will have to continue playing with it.

I wanted the "Whoohoo" to pop, so I heat embossed it so the white would be easy to read.  I also added some gold sequins to the card.  I have seen them on so many other beautiful cards, I had to try them out.   LOVE THEM!

Create Your Own Sunshine

Hello,

Connor and I are on our way to Maryland this weekend.  Our good friends, Bre and Dan are getting married this weekend.  I'm looking forward to seeing all our friends.  It has been a year since Connor and I have visited.  I hope to soak in every second.

Today's card features a new stamp from Stamping Bella.  It is part of their Uptown Girls series.  The sentiment is also from Stamping Bella.  She was a lot of fun to color.  Take your time as you go, there are a lot of small areas.  Copics like to wander a bit.  I had one issue on the bag.  I did my best to clean up my mess with the blender pen.... then added a bit of gel pen to hide the worst of it.   You will do great!  Happy Coloring!!
