Snowflake Wars

Happy Tuesday,

Another quick card for you today.  I really like the layout of this card, but wasn't sure what colors to pick.  I started off making this card in brown.  Connor (hubby) thought it looked drab.  I went back my paper box and pulled out some blues.   I'm still not sure which one I like better.  I'm tempted to make a few in pink and maybe purple.  What colors do you think would work best?

Where Did The Cookies Really Go

Hello all,

I have been dying to share a some photos of this project.  I decided to wait until I had delivered all the gifts before posting.   I really enjoyed coloring the tags, but making the cookies was painful.   Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm no Betty Crocker.  I'm pretty sure I make my husband nervous when I cook.  Suddenly, he wants to hang out in the kitchen.

Thinking that I had things under control, I baked the cookies while he was still at work.   Several hours later, I had burnt half of them.  I really tried.  I just do not have any talent in the kitchen.  If you want me to color you a cookie.  Call me.  If you need help making actual cookies,  I should only be asked as a last resort.   I burnt so many that I didn't have enough cookies to fill the glasses, Connor was kind enough to bake more.

In the end, I think the concept turned out really well.  I found these cute glasses, filled them with cookies.  We decorated them with ribbon and hand colored tags.

Jeweled Christmas

Merry Christmas,

I wish you a day filled with family and good food.   We will be spending the day with my Grandma, Aunts, Uncles and cousins.   Many of them live far away, so I will soak up every moment with them.

Just a quick post today.  This is the card I sent out this year for Christmas.  When I started, I was hoping this was going to be a quick card to make... but it didn't take long to realize that gluing 450 rhinestones onto 30 cards would take me while.  I hung in there and finished at 4am last Saturday morning.  I think it was worth it.  I really like how they turned out.

Keeping Our Eyes on Noel

Merry Christmas Eve,

Rudolph is helping me keep a look out for Santa.  Originally I wasn't planning on putting Googly eyes on this card, but it wouldn't be the same without them.  I hope Santa arrives at your house soon!

Peaceful Christmas

Good Morning all!

I was asked by a local store to make some cards with their patrons.  I really enjoy doing this every year. I try to pick a card that will appeal to young kids and another that is a bit more elegant.  This was my choice for elegant.    I love the simplicity of it.

Snowbunny Wishes You a Merry Christmas

Happy Friday's-Eve,

I have this really sweet card to share with you today.  I love this cute bunny and his snow-friend.

I had this really neat die of a snow scene.  It creates a silhouette of houses and pine trees.  I colored the bunny and snowman and cut them out and put them against the silhouette.  It was a little busy, so I cut off a few of the houses and trees.  I liked the simplified look.    I also embossed the top part of the frame to help create a snowy/blizzard feel.

Hey! I Need That!!!

Happy Wednesday,

I love snowman. They are one of the positive things that come out of winter.  The kids down the street make a small snowman in their yard every time we get a few inches of that white yucky stuff.  It might not be the most structurally sound snowman in history, but he is built with love.  I look forward to seeing him.

This card looks really intimidating.  When you have the blank image in front of you, the first thought is..."Where do I start?".   I started with the deer.  Then did the snowman.    The trees seem hard, but there are no tree-police to come to see if you did it perfectly.  I didn't spend a lot of time I did a lot of scribbling.  You can cover it up with glitter to hide any spots...you don't love.   I did the same with the sky.  I didn't color it solid...just a light scribble.  It looks like clouds.  So take a deep breath and give it a try.

Pine Cone Christmas

Happy Saturday,

I have a quick card to share with you today.  I was going to make this my Christmas card this year, but I didn't have enough paper.   I was going to order more, but my good friend Debbi told me that they don't make it anymore!!!  I hate when that happens.  Oh well... I'm just going to have to play around until I find something that works.

I really like the look of the layering on this card.  I hope to try it again with some other images.  It might look cool with snowflakes.

Is it too late to be Good?

Happy Thursday,

I have been sorting through tons of photos over the last few weeks.  I'm starting to make some progress on the Thailand pictures.  I'm still undecided on how to scrapbook them.  I prefer the traditional method, but digital is faster.  My ears are open in anyone has any suggestions.

In the sorting I came across this one.  It was the only photo I took over Thanksgiving.  I think we took so many over our trip, we forgot to get the cameras out for the holiday.  My Mom made a delicious meal.  It was so good!   My picture-finger will be rested before Christmas..

This card is for all my Cat-Loving friends out there!  You put up will all my dog stories...so I wanted to make something special.  This kitty looks like she has been causing trouble...

 Copics Used:

Cat: W3, W5, W7, W9-  I just varied the amount of each color in different sections of the cat
Cheeks: W1
Nose: R11, R20
Red: R24, R29, R39, R59
Green: G20, G21, G24
Blue: B12, B16
Red: R14, R24
Purple: BV00, BV02

Bell: Y17, Y26- Not sure I love this.  I wish it was more gold.
I used my black multi-liner to draw border around the white card stock
I also put some glossy accents on the bulbs.  It gives them a little shiny look. Very hard to see in photos.

Mary and Baby Jesus

Hello all,

The count down to Christmas continues.  I know we say it every year, but where does the time go.  This last weekend was a busy one.  I participated in the Craft show at the Senior Center on Friday.  Then I made cards with the kids at a local store in Corning.  Connor helped with a charity event to help raise money to help hungry children.  We had a great time, but the threat of bad weather kept people at home.  As I type, the TV is whining about the 6-10 inches of snow headed our way. It is a shame Mother Nature couldn't cooperate a little!

I have an unusual card for you today.  It is a new take on scene with Mary and Jesus.  Many have commented that it must have been windy in the Manger.   I agree the hair might be a bit much, but it is SOOOO much fun to color!

Copics used:
If I were to color this again, I might make Jesus's blanket blue.  I went with brown because of the bible verse, but I think blue would help break up all the browns in the photo.
Blue:  B12, B14, B16
Hay: Y21, mix of browns.
Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20
Lips: E04, R20
Blanket: E50, E51, E53
Hair: E30, E31, E33, E35
Wood: E43, E44, E47

Saw That

Happy Wednesday!

When I saw this stamp, I had to have it!  It just made me laugh.  Hopefully you will chuckle a little as well.   I will confess this card design is very similar to the sample made by the manufacturer (SSS).   Why mess with perfection?

Here is my version of "Saw That"

No copics!
I used chalk colored pencils.  Regular colored pencils work as well.
