Berry Best Strawberries- with video tutorial

 Hello friends,

I love that summer just around the corner  I'm looking forward to fresh strawberries (hopefully without the mouse)!

If you take my copic classes, you know we have been working on mastering RED.  It can be very difficult to get a good blend.  This card was great practice because we would adjust our blends on each strawberry to make them look a little different, but still part of a group.

You can watch here to see the process that I follow.

Materials and copics are linked below.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to create the border.  It has been discontinued, but this die is very similar.

Stamp is called House Mouse Sleeping with Strawberries.  There are several available on Ebay, and Etsy.  If you do a google search. I think you can find one.

A Loving RAWR

Rawr!

Today's card was inspired by Ryan.  He loves to RAWR at people.  I often find myself at the other end of his growls.  I often respond Love you too.   I thought this would make a cute sentiment for a card.  I wasn't alone.  I found this set.  I used my alphabet dies to create a bigger "RAWR".  Valentine's Day is right around the corner.  Do you have any special plans?  Connor and I used to go to dinner before we had Ryan.  I suspect we will spend a quiet night at home.

Hogs and Kisses

Hello all,

Well I've managed to dig myself out of all the Christmas projects that seem to collect over the season.  I'm starting to look to the next holiday.  I love making friendship cards.  This year I made a bunch of Pal-entines.   They are kind of like Valentine's but less mushy.

JOY

Hello friend,

I know Christmas has come and gone, but I wanted to share this card.  I love the sparkle.  In the background I used a sparkly-clear embossed a snowflake background on the red cardstock.  I wish the camera captured the sparkle.  I used an old Quickutz alphabet and snowflake die add JOY.  It is a simple card.  I hope you enjoy!

Red, White and Blue

Greetings,

Craft show season is coming and I'm starting to make some preparations.  I thought it would be a good idea to make some patriotic cards.  The birch press dies worked perfectly to incorporate red-white-blue themed backgrounds.  The remind me a little of fireworks. What do you think?

Sweet Wedding Roses

Hello friends,

One of my favorite parts of summer is all the weddings.  It is just a reminder that we are surrounded by love.  With all the horrible things in the news lately, it is something I welcome!

I love how soft and sweet this card feels.  I think this is becoming my new favorite red combination.

Dare to be Unique

Happy Friday,

I love snowflakes.  Well... I love snowflakes when they are on paper.  I'm not sure I can say the same about ones that pile up in my driveway!   I usually grab blues and purples inks/paper when I start making a snowflake card, but a friend (Amy) a few years ago make a green snowflake card.  It was really pretty.  It inspired me to branch out and try a few other colors.  This year, I thought I'd try using classic Christmas colors.  I love the red, green and gold together.   It has a very elegant feel to the card.

Irreplaceable

Hello stamping friends,

I have a tough one for you today.  I really enjoyed coloring this card, but the red is a challenge.

Copics used:

Black: 100, W9, W7, W6, W4
Red: R59, R39, R29, R24, R14, W7, W5
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E13, R20
Hair: E21, E23, E25, E27, E29, E49
Stockings and white: E50, E51
Cage thing: W4
Gold: Y11, Y17, Y26
Green: G09, G05

The red is really challenging on this card.  If you have a hard time with reds, I suggest leaving out R59.  In the end you don't really see R14.  You can also leave this one out if you like.   I used greys to deepen shadows.  This makes a huge difference in the end result.  If you are unsure about this step.  Start with W5 and leave out W7.     Take you time and use nice and light strokes.

It Must Be Love

Hello!

Today is the last day in the marathon of cards this week. We are almost caught up.   This is the last card in the Card Lover's series for June.

It is a really easy card to make for a wedding or anniversary.  I used a sponge to create the ombre look on the "LOVE" die cut.    I applied more ink towards the base of the die cut and less at the top.  It is super easy to do!

I used R37 copic to color the gems on this card.

Yippee Skippee

Hello all!

Today's card is another favorite from June's classes.  This little cow will MOOve you!

Here is a really short video showing you how the card moves when you add a wobble.  If you are looking at this post in your email the video will not work.  You need to go to the blog to see the video.

I used a Wobble from Art Impressions to add the moment to the cow's head.   I only had a few of these and tried to order more... they are still on back order.  :(  I can't wait to make more cards like this.   In class we just used pop dots to complete the card.   It was still really cute!    You can see the layers below

Copics used:

Black: T5, T7, T9
White: C1
Gold: Y00, Y17, Y26

The Goofy Things

Happy Monday,

What a whirlwind of a weekend!  Connor and I packed a ton into a short few days.  I had a wonderful time at the Akron Stamping Convention.  I met a handful of very talented copic artists.  They are well on there way to making some stunning works of art.  I can't wait to see where their creativity takes them.    Saturday, I was lucky enough to have some time to wander through the exhibit hall and shop.   What an experience!   One of my favorite things about going visiting the smaller stamp companies.  They always have unique stamps and ideas.  I can't wait to ink them up put my new purchases to work!

In the meantime, I have this cute couple is getting in trouble again.  What will they do next?

It Moose Be Love

Happy Monday Friends,

Connor and I had a wonderful time at our Glass Working Class.  We made three pieces of art.  It was a lot of fun.  Melted glass flows a lot like honey.  It is challenging to get it to move the way you want.  I thought a lot about you guys in during my class.   I was watching the instructor work the glass and she made it look so easy.  Then when we sat down to give it a try, it didn't go quite the same way she demonstrated.   I can tell that this is a craft that takes a lot of patience and practice...not to different than copics.

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite cards.  I love this little cute moose.

If Friends Were Flowers...

Happy Friday,

I have another exciting weekend a head of me.  I'm looking forward to every minute of it.  Connor and I have both been so busy working, we haven't had much time to spend together.  He has been working for Corning Glass for almost 3 years now.  In this time, he has become more interested in the artistic side of glass making.   I love anything that gets the creative juices flowing.     My Christmas gift to Connor this year was enrolling us into a Glass Making Class.   I'm excited that we get to do it together!   Ironically, the class isn't in Corning.  However, it gives us a chance to get out of town...away from work...and spend some time together.    I'll do my best to take photos at our class tonight.

Today's card is all about love!   I love these Heart Flowers.   I'm not sure who makes the flower stamp.  I've had it for years.  The die and sentiment are both from Papertrey.

Oodles of Love

Happy New Year Friends,

I hope that you are wrapped in a blanket and drinking a warm beverage as you read this.   The weather outside if frightful!  I spent the day at my crafting table working on card for Valentine's Day.  I'm not huge fan of pink and red together but this card might change my outlook.  I LOVE IT.

This image was fun to color.  I had to really take my time.  Red copics are notorious for wanting to run.  I didn't want the pinks and red to blend together, so I really made sure they were dry before continuing on to the next color.  Maybe the image should be called Oodles of patience. LOL..
