Sweet Wishes

 Happy (almost) Halloween,

One of my favorite things about Halloween it giver us freedom to use colors that we might normally shy away from like florescent orange, green, or yellow.   In truth, we probably don't have a lot of use for those in our everyday crafting.   I'm not going to lie... I was a little exciting to sit down and have a play with this neglected colors.   To enhance the brightness of the end result.  I went over the white background with a light grey to dull it a bit.  I think it helped make the brights look brighter.

Bone-Jour

Bone-Jour,

I'm still on my mission to use up some pattern paper.  I found this paper in a one of the many packs collecting dust.  I'm not really sure exactly is going on in the paper, but I see skeleton keys, skulls and spiders.  It was definitely Halloween-y.  I  went with a floating split-panel card.   The floating panel is hiding a cute little skeleton dog.   This card it way too cute to be spooky!

Fall Turnabout

Hey, Hi, Hello there!   I'm so grateful you are here.

Well that about sums up these cards.   Concord and 9th came out with a new turnabout stamp.  This one has a beautiful Fall them with mushrooms, leave, acorns, and flowers.   I created a 6x6 inch panel with the stamp so that I could create two cards.   It is hard to see but on the "Hey" card I used a spellbinders 3D harvest embossing folder.  It also features mushrooms, so they paired perfectly together.

This Moment

Hello,

I know it is not Wedding season, but I sold out of all the wedding cards in my stash.  I needed to replenish my box.  I was going to remake my favorite wedding card, but Unity stamps just released this sweet set called A Day to Treasure.

I couldn't decide if  I liked it on the warm grey, cool grey or black mat.  So made a few of each.  Do you have a favorite?

Copics used:
Grey: N3, N2, N1
Green: YG17, YG13,
Bride Hair: YR31, E31, E33
Pink: RV55, RV52
Groom Hair: E15, E18
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E13
Wink of Stella on brides dress

This stamp is really detailed.  I obviously used my copics to color the image.  I wasn't able to get a good stamped image with memento ink .  Look at how it turned out on the right.  However, versafine is NOT copic friendly.   So I used the trick of using a stamp positioner so I could stamp them with memento ink, color them, and then resteamp them with versafine.   It made a huge difference in the final look.

Catch you Later

Greetings,
I wanted to take a little break from Halloween cards and share this silly card.  I made this during shark week.  (Yep... that was months ago.  It has been lost on my desk and it just resurfaced).

This is a stamp set from the Greeting Farm, but the idea came from the movie the Little Mermaid.  In the beginning of the movie Ariel outsmarts and swims away from a shark in the start of the film.  She didn't seem to worried.    I used my Zig watercolor markers to color my mermaid (Does she look like Ariel?) and shark.   I used my distress inks to sponge an ocean wave.  I made some white splashes with my gel pen.
I added some stitched white clouds to just break up the white space at the top.

I hope this gives you a little chuckle.  Happy crafting friends,
Chris

Feline Spooky

Hello,

I really quick post today.  This is a remake of a card that I made about 13 years ago.  I would love to share a photos of the original card, but I searched and searched and I can not find a photo of it.   I loved the original so much that I've wanted to make more... but I've been unable to find pattern paper that would work (I'm picky).   The original card featured striped paper with oranges, purples and greens.  I stamped this same cat stamp and then used velvet black ribbon to tie a bow at the base of the cats feet.  I think the original card just said "Spooky".

The velvet ribbon was really bulky.  I was glad to replace it with a paper ribbon.  I used glitter card stock and orange rhinestone on the bow to add some shine.   Overall, I think I stayed pretty true to the original idea.   It was so much fun to see this card come to life again.

Spooky Scenes

BOO!

Did I scare you?  Yeah... probably not.  I'm more of the too cute to spook than creepy halloween type.   I thought when I started out with this card I was going to make a spooky scene.  It turns out I think the cat just likes to cuddle jack-o-lanterns in the cemetery.  It could happen, right?

As a side note.. the Happy Halloween is supposed to be a paint stroke.  I thought I was going to do it in a festive color like orange or green.  However, It turns out I liked it in black the best.  It thought it looked a little like a tail of a shooting star or comet.  It is Halloween... so anything is possible.

Bold Birthdays

Hello friends,

Today is my MOM's birthday.  We celebrate her all year, but today we actually tell her about it.  😀  She is a good sport she puts up with all the teasing from her kids and now grandkids.   She knows it is out of love.

I was going to make her a Fall themed birthday card, but I saw this bold birthday set and thought it would be fun to create a background for this cute little cake die cut.   Blue is her favorite color.   These sentiments are perfect for this technique because of the weight of the font.  You can read them easily, even when they are stamped tone on tone.    I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of these sentiments.  I hope this inspires you to make some birthday cards for your Fall birthdays.
