Birthday Balloons

Happy Friday,

We made it through another frigid week.  The weather man promises that the worst is behind us and we are going to see some positive numbers on the thermometer.   It will be really nice to feel my toes again!

As promised I have a video of our crazy lake dogs.  They are always excited about visiting the lake but this is the first time we have seen them on the ice.   If you are looking at this in email, the video will not play.  You need to go to the blog or youtube to see the video.

I have a quick card to share with you today.  I used my jumbo sized balloon die to create this card.  The die is huge and it hard to use the entire balloon on a card because it takes up so much space.  To solve this problem we placed the balloon off center and trimmed to fit in the card.   We added some glitter to the balloon to add a bit of sparkle.

I made these in blue for a more manly look

I decorated the inside of the cards to match the front.

Great, Big Puppy Birthday

Hello friends,

If you have been following the blog or know me at all than you know I'm not a fan of the cold.  If I had my way, I would live on the equator.  This weekend, Connor and I decided to drive to the lake  to check on cottage and docks.   We had heard the lake was frozen (very unusual) and wanted to see it for ourselves.   It was beautiful and quiet.  We had a great time playing on the ice.  In my next post, I'll share a video of the dogs playing.  It makes me laugh.  They were so happy!

Some of the ladies had been asking me for some masculine birthday cards.  Manly cards can be a challenge to make.  I dug through my stamps looking for an image that is suitable for a man and I stumbled across this stamp.    I love the way he is looking at that grasshopper.  The grasshopper looks worried too.  "Is he going to be friends with me or eat me?"

First thing I did here was use a multi-liner to draw the markings on the dog.  It isn't as hard as you think, the markings on a dog are random so it won't matter if you it is perfect.  If this is too stressful, you don't have to do this at all.  You can color him all one color.  He looks good all brown.  I wouldn't recommend black. I just thought the markings would add some personality to the puppy.

Grey: N3, N1, 0
Black: 100, N9, N7, N5
Brown: E30, E31, E33, E35

Through Thick or Thin

Hi friends,

I try to keep my eyes open for new and unusual images.   Something that will make everyone smile.   It is just nice to switch it up and do something different. Check out this Beauty!

You would have to know the person pretty well to send them this card.  I put some suggestions for things to say on the inside down below.

I didn't have stamps that said this, but I thought you could write one of these inside:
"Through Thick or Thin We are Friends Forever"
" You're One Sexy Bitch"
"You are Quite the Catch"

Rose Garden

Happy Monday!

I wanted to play with a new color combination.  We all have our favorite combos we grab when coloring.  Usually when want purple, I go right for the BV's.  I thought it was time to use some V's.  I really liked how they turned out.  They have a much richer feel to them.  I love the look!

You Make My Heart Happy

Happy Pre-Heart Day!

Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?  If you are free in the afternoon and in the Corning area, you can come make a Valentine's day card with me at Connors Mercantile.  It is free and it is always a good time!

Today's card is all done with die cuts.  I taught this as part of the the Card Lover's class.  I love the illusion that this created with this technique.  It looks like the hearts are pushed up from the paper.

In the Swing of Things

Greetings Stampers,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Connor had Zumba training class this weekend in Rochester.  He learned a few new dances and I was able to visit with my family.  It was a win-win arrangement. Now we are back home and get ready for the week.

I'm excited to share this card with you.  I have this running list of ideas for cards that I keep in my journal.   Sometimes ideas can live there for years.  I just have way more ideas than time...I love when the stars aline and I'm able to see one of those ideas become an actual card.

I added glitter to the heart, you can kind of see it in this photo.

Happy Saturday,

I have a super quick card to share with you.  We made these are part of the Card Lover's class.  I love the new word dies that are being released.   You can make such quick and beautiful cards with them.  I used decorative paper and "Love" word die to create these three cards.
Which one do you like the most?

Raindrops in More Colors

Hello all,

Last year I made a similar card in blue.  I had a request to redo this card in more traditional colors. I tried in both pink and purple. I'm not sure if purple is traditional, but I liked it.   I love that these are fast to make.  Perfect when you need a quick card.

Copics used:
Purple: BV01, BV02, BV04
Pink: RV29, RV25, RV23
Brown: E21, E25, E27
Red: R24, R29

I'll Hang with You

Hello all,

I hope this note finds you nice and warm.   We have been bombarded with snow the last few days here in New York.   Connor had to shovel the driveway twice in one hour to get to work yesterday.  He shoveled it once then took a shower and ate breakfast.  When he went outside to leave, he found a new layer of snow in his way.

Thankfully we have a little sunshine today.    I like to take photos of cards outside.  The natural light is way better to showcase the colors.  I bundled up and went out in 8 degree sunshine and took some photos so I could catch up on the blog.   YIKES it was cold!

I've used this set a lot.  I love these monkeys.  This time I stamped two of them, cut them out and used dimensional glue to place them in the heart.   In the background I put some cloud paper.   If you wanted to make this card more romantic, you could put red card stock.   I didn't want to make it too mushy because I was making valentine's for friends.   I also used some liquid glue to tack their hands to the twine.  I was worried that it wouldn't stick, but it worked really well.

Copics:
Monkeys: E11, E13, E15
Monkey Feet: E50, E53, W2
