May Happiness Rain Down

Hello all,

This has been another busy week.  Connor and I have been making all the last minute preparations for the baby.  We have the car seat installed, the nursery all set up, and the guest bedroom made up for Grandma to some stay for awhile.   I can't believe that he could be here any day now.   I will will let you know when he arrives.

I even had some time to color up this cutie.  I colored this image up a handful of years ago, but it needed to be revisited.   I really wanted to focus on adding depth.   I saw my first daffodil of the year today.  Spring is officially here!!

You Make Me Smile

Hello all,

I have set a new goal of "spotlighting" a new technique or product each month.   The technique will be taught during the Card Lover's class each month.   I'm proud to share the first card in this series.  I hope if you are local you will come to class and learn to make this card.  It is beautiful!!

Hugs and Prayers

Happy Wednesday!

I have another quick card to share with you today.  I promise I'll be back to coloring with copics soon.  I was asked to do some technique classes and have been enjoying playing with some tools that have been sitting for far too long.

Today, I wanted to play with a background stamp.  I had this old lace stamp from Stampin Up.  I use background stamps all the time, but rarely are they ever the focal point of the card.  This one was too pretty to cover up.  I embossed it to help it stand out against the blue paper.   I wasn't sure about the black butterflies.  It just seems like an odd color.  However,  I love the way they pop against the lace and blue.   It is so pretty!

Hello fabulous

Hello friends!

I have what looks like a simple card to share with you today.   I've seen and made a few mosaic cards through the years.  They can be a little tricky but nothing I can't handle, right?    I saw a new twist on the idea and thought I'd give it a try.  Well....three days later I couldn't figure it out.  I felt so defeated!!  It just wasn't coming together.   I turned to my mom and husband for help.  I felt better when they stumbled with the concept too.   I'm so thankful I married an engineer.  He had to consult a few textbooks, but he finally figured out how to make the math work.    Finally Success!!

We are making this card in the March Card Lover's class.   My husband made us a a nice fool-proof template so we can recreate this look.

Flower of the Month: Daffodil

Hello all,

I can't believe another month is behind us.  Today I'm here to celebrate March's Flower of the month: Daffodils.    We have had a mild winter here in upstate New York.  I'm hoping we will start to see these beautiful flowers pop up soon!

This digi from Lila Grey is beautiful and simple.   When I set out to color this image, I spent quite a bit of time picking out yellows.  I wanted something bright but not neon.    My favorite yellow combination is Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17.  To help soften these bright yellows I also included Y00.   For the greens, I selected YG61, YG63, YG67 and G99 to give the stems and leaves and olive look.

I kept the colors simple this month, but I really focused on shading.  I really wanted to bring the flower to life.   Once the image was dry, I did go add some additional shadows with the G99.  I love the texture it added to the leaves.

Thank you for visiting. With any luck we will be seeing daffodils soon!!
